Place the whole lemons in a freezer bag, remove as much air as possible from the freezer bag and freeze.
When ready to use, defrost the lemon out completely at room temperature before using them. The defrosted lemon will likely be mushy but the lemon juice will be delicious!
How to Freeze Lemon Slices or Wedges:
Slice the lemon into slices or wedges and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Place the entire baking sheet in the freezer and freeze for at least 1 hour.
Remove the pan from the freezer and place the frozen slices in a freezer bag, remove as much air as possible and freeze.
Defrost the lemon slices out completely at room temperature when ready to use.
How to Freeze Lemon Juice:
Juice the lemons and pour the juice into ice cube trays.
Place the ice cube trays in the freezer for at least 1 hour.
Carefully remove the frozen cubes from the ice cube tray.
Place the frozen cubes in a freezer bag and freeze.
When ready to use, let the ice cube pieces defrost out completely in a bowl at room temperature and it’s ready to enjoy!
How to Freeze Lemon Zest:
Grate the lemon skin with a zester or small grater.
Place the lemon zest in a freezer bag and freeze for up to 3-4 months.
When ready to use, defrost the zest out completely at room temperature and then it’s ready to use in your favorite recipes.
Notes
You can also freeze lemon in slices to keep on hand for drinks or meals. Cut the lemons into wedges. Place the wedges on a baking sheet and freeze for at least 1 hour. Then transfer the lemon slices to a freezer bag, remove as much air as possible and freeze.Defrost in the refrigerator or at room temperature.
