Hamburger casserole recipe is the best combination of hearty ground beef, pasta and a creamy sauce. You can serve this with little prep work on busy nights.
Spray a 13x9 baking pan with non-stick cooking spray.
Cook noodles according to directions on the package to al dente.
In a large skillet, brown ground beef and onion together (breaking up of the beef as it cooks) until all the pink is gone. Drain off any excess grease if needed.
Stir in the tomato sauce, sugar, garlic powder, Italian seasonings, salt and pepper.
Heat to boiling, reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes or until the sauce has thickened.
Stir in the cooked pasta and 1/2 cup of the shredded cheese.
Pour the mixture into the baking dish and top with the remaining shredded cheese.
Bake for 10-15 minutes (uncovered) until the cheese is melted.
Remove from the oven. Let the casserole sit for at least 10 minutes and then it’s ready to serve and enjoy!
