We love making brownies and we love air fryer recipes so we decided to make these delicious made from scratch brownies. These brownies are quick to make and are made with simple ingredients.

The brownies are baked with moist crumbs and full of chocolate flavor.

Ingredients

Ingredients needed - salted butter, sugar, brown sugar, cocoa powder, vanilla, egg, flour, chocolate chips

Variations

  • Air Fryer Boxed Brownies – Instead of making brownies from scratch, use a brownie mix. This is a great option and it is prepared the same way as the recipe indicates. You may need to adjust your pan size depending the size of your air fryer.
  • Nuts – If you like nuts in your brownies, they can be added with the chocolate chips.
  • Change Chocolate Chips – We used milk chocolate chips in this recipe, but you can use white chocolate or dark chocolate chips.
  • Sprinkles – Feel free to top the brownie batter with sprinkles for color and texture.
  • Crushed Candy – Top the brownies with crushed candy and serve with a side of whipped cream or ice cream.

How to Make Brownies in the Air Fryer

  • Step 1 – Prepare Air Fryer Basket – Preheat the air fryer to 325 degrees F. Line a 6 inch square or round cake pan with parchment paper. Make sure to let the parchment paper extend up the sides of the pan.

Step 2 – Place the butter, brown sugar, sugar and cocoa powder in a microwave safe mixing bowl. Microwave in 20 second intervals.

Step 3 – Stir in the vanilla extract and let the mixture cool slightly. Then mix in the egg and flour until combined.

Step 4 – Stir in ½ cup of the chocolate chips into brownie batter.  Pour the batter in the prepared pan and top with the remaining chocolate chips.

Step 5 – Air fry chocolate mixture at 325 degrees F for 15 minutes.  Check the brownies to see if they are done.  If the brownies are not done, cook in 5 minute intervals until the brownies are cooked through.

  • Step 8 – Check to make sure done – The edges should be set and a toothpick inserted into the center of the brownies comes out clean (make sure not to insert into a chocolate chip).  
  • Step 9 – Serve & Enjoy – Let the brownies cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes.  Then use the parchment paper to remove the brownies from the pan.  Cut, serve and enjoy.

  • Cooking Brownies – Each air fryer cooks differently so the cooking times will vary.  Make sure to check regularly until the brownies are cooked through. 
  • Combining Ingredients – Heat the ingredients until melted butter forms. This allows that the sugars and cocoa powder to combine with the butter. Heat in 30 second intervals.
  • Room Temperature Ingredients – We like to mix the ingredients with room temperature eggs for the best texture.
  • Line the Pan – It is best to line the baking pan with parchment paper. This allows you to easily remove the brownies from the pan and for easy cleanup.
  • Brownies need to cool – Before cutting and serving brownies, it is best to let the brownies rest for about 15 minutes.

How Long to Air Fry Brownies

Brownies cooked in the air fryer take about 15 minutes. It will depend on your air fryer but we recommend to check the brownies after 15 minutes. You may need to cook the brownies for 5 minutes longer.

We recommend using a toothpick to see if brownies are finished cooking.

Instructions
