Variation Ideas

  • Add-ins – To add flavor to your pancake mix, add in cinnamon.
  • Toppings – You can use different toppings for the turkey face. Use raisins instead of chocolate chips. You can also use carrots for the nose.
  • Fresh Fruit – I have even used grapes, bananas or strawberries as a variation. Mandarin oranges is another option for the eyes or nose.

How to Make Turkey Pancakes

  • Step 1 – Whisk together the flour, brown sugar, baking powder and salt.
  • Step 2 – In a small bowl, whisk together the egg, milk and vanilla.
  • Step 3 – Whisk the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, then stir in the melted butter.
  • Step 4 – Heat a nonstick griddle or skillet over medium heat.
  • Step 5 – Pour ⅓ cup batter onto the griddle for each pancake to make the faces of the turkey.
  • Step 6 – Cook until bubbles form in the middle, about 3 minutes. Flip and cook until golden brown, about 2 minutes. Remove from the griddle.
  • Step 7 – Continue this process to make approximately 6 large pancakes and 6 smaller pancakes.

How To Serve Turkey Pancakes

  • Step 1 – Line a plate with a paper towel.  Place the bacon on top.
  • Step 2 – Microwave for 6-8 minutes (flipping halfway through the cook time) until the bacon is cooked through and crisp. Cut each piece of bacon in half lengthwise.
  • Step 3 – Place a pancake on each serving plate and top each one with a smaller pancake.  Place the bacon strips along the top of the pancakes for the turkey feathers.
  • Step 4 – Make the faces of the turkeys with chocolate chips and M&Ms. Use the extra chocolate chips to make the feet on the turkey.
  • Step 5 – Then the pancakes are ready to serve and enjoy with syrup.

Recipe Tips

  • Cooking Pancakes – Cook pancakes mix on medium-low heat. If you are cooking on a skillet you will need to work in batches. The total time to make these pancakes is about 15 minutes.
