Why This Recipe Works

This steak quesadilla Taco Bell recipe is loaded with flavor and made with simple ingredients. Taco Bell quesadilla is one my kids favorite thing to get at this fast food restaurant.

Ingredients

Ingredients needed - mayonnaise, pickled jalapenos, sugar, cumin, paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, salt, steaks, oil, salt and pepper, flour tortilla, cheese,

For the Sauce 

  • Mayonnaise 
  • Minced Pickled Jalapeños 
  • Pickled Jalapeno Juice 
  • Sugar 
  • Cumin 
  • Paprika 
  • Cayenne Pepper 
  • Garlic Powder 
  • Salt 

For the Quesadillas

  • Sirloin Steaks (chopped) 
  • Oil 
  • Salt 
  • Pepper 
  • Burrito Size Flour Tortillas
  • Cheddar Cheese (shredded) 
  • Monterey Jack Cheese (shredded) 
  • American Cheese

Substitutions and Additions

  • Chicken QuesadillaChange the meat and make chicken quesadilla.
  • Jalapeno Peppers – Add slice jalapeno peppers before fold the quesadilla to cook until tortilla is crispy.
  • Sauce – Make spicy sauce by adding in cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes.

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1 – Mix together all the sauce ingredients in a small bowl until well combined.  Refrigerate until ready to use.

Step 2 – Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium high heat.  Add in the steak.  Season it with salt and pepper. Sauté until the steak is cooked through.  Remove from the heat.  Let rest for 5 minutes.  Then cut the steak into thin slices.

Step 3 – Lay a tortilla on the griddle or skillet once heated. Sprinkle ¼ cup of each of the shredded cheeses and half of the American cheese slices onto half of the tortillas.

Step 4 – Spread ¼ of the steak mixture on top of the cheeses.

Step 4 – Spread approximately 1 tablespoon of the sauce onto the other side of the tortillas (without the cheese and steak).

Step 5 – Fold the tortilla in half.  Cook until golden brown and the cheese starts to melt.  Flip and cook until the other side is browned as well. 

Step 6 – Remove from the skillet or griddle.  Continue this process until all the quesadillas are made. 

Step 7 – Then they are ready to slice, serve and enjoy.

Recipe Tips

  • Quesadilla Sauce – Prepare the quesadilla sauce ahead of time so the ingredients to marinate together.
  • Steak – You can prepare the steak ahead of time and store in the fridge until ready to use.

    My family does not like any kind of peppers or Jalapeรฑos so I browned onions in butter and it was good. In a pinch I also made with ground beef and my family enjoyed those also.

    These were very good.
    I used 1 thick cut ribeye, as that is what I had on hand.
    Also, I would double the sauce recipe. I almost ran out before using all of the tortillas.
