Why We Love This Recipe

This Dip recipe is made with 3 simple ingredients and a variety of ingredients can be added. I like to keep these ingredients on hand for a last minute dessert when my kids have friends over.

Skip the campfire and make this classic dessert into a dip for a crowd pleasing dessert. You may even like this S’mores Pizza.

Variations Ideas

  • Chocolate – We usually make this dessert dips with chocolate chips, but you can also use chocolate bars.
  • Chopped Nuts – For added texture and flavor, add chopped nuts to the chocolate mixture. You can use chopped peanuts or chopped pecans.
  • Toppings – When serving, drizzle melty chocolate over the top. It would also be delicious with caramel syrup.

How to Make Smores Dip

  • Step 1 – First, preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
  • Step 2 – While the oven is preheating, get the skillet ready. We used a cast iron skillets. Put the chocolate chips in the bottom of the skillet.
  • Step 2 – Next, place in the oven for about 3 to 3 ½ minutes or until the chocolate chips look glossy. Take it out of the oven and top with the mini marshmallows.
  • Step 3 – You can also sprinkle a few chocolate chips on top if you want to. This is optional but makes it even more decadent.
  • Step 4 – Finally, put the skillets back in the oven for another 6 to 7 minutes. You just want the marshmallows to be toasted.

Recipe Tips

  • Type of Skillet – We used small 3 inch cast iron skillets but this recipe can easily be adapted if you prefer to use a larger skillet. If you want to make one big pan, use an 8 or 9 inch skillet and an entire bag of chocolate chips. Heat at 350 degrees for 3 to 4 minutes to melt the chocolate. Then put back in for another 2 or 3 minutes so the marshmallows will turn golden brown.
  • Baking Dish – You can also use a baking dish if you prefer. Any size will work. Disposable pans make another great option.
  • Layering Ingredients – To ensure the every bite has all the layers, make sure to completely cover the pan.

Serving Ideas

This S’mores dip is even better with your favorite dippers.

  • Graham Crackers – Just break into pieces.
  • Graham Cracker Sticks
  • Vanilla Wafers
  • Fruit – Strawberries are so yummy and a favorite around here. Pineapple is also good if you like the combination or tart and sweet. Apple slices are yummy too.
  • Pretzels – Any type will do! Twists, sticks, rods or anything.
  • Animal crackers – always a hit with kids
  • Potato Chips

Frequently Asked Questions

How to Make a S’mores Charcuterie Board

We love a good Charcuterie board. This s’mores themed board is such a fun idea.
It is so simple. Just use a large wooden board. Place the 2 small cast iron skillets on the board. Add all of the dippers around it. Just put groups of each all around the board until it is full. I like to start with the larger items and then fill in the gaps with the smaller items. This is so fun and easy for parties. Anytime we have made this, it was always a huge hit! It is so simple and you hardly even need a recipe!

How to Store Leftover Smores Dip

Store the leftover dip into an airtight container in the fridge. The dip will last about 2-3 dip.

How to Reheat S’mores Dip

Yes, you can. Just put back in the oven for 4 to 5 minutes. I normally reduce the heat to 350 degrees when reheating. Just a note- The dip is best eaten fresh when first made but reheating is certainly an option.
