As of a mom of 8, we make a lot of dessert recipes. Brownies is one of our favorites because have how simple they are to make and full of chocolate flavor. But this brownie recipe, is the ultimate recipe. The rich layers makes it the perfect holiday dessert or for any occasion.

This brownie recipe is made with a box brownie mix, but feel free to make this Homemade Brownie Recipe instead. If you love brownies as much as we do, I am sure you will try this Brownie Pie.

What is a Slutty Brownie?

They are called Slutty brownies because they are rich in flavor and because of the many layers. This recipe starts with a cookie dough layer, then a Oreo layer and then finishes off with a brownie layer.

The many layers makes the dessert highly requested in my family. This recipe is made with simple ingredients and the perfect last minute dessert.

  • Oreo Cookies

For the full list of ingredients and recipe, scroll to the bottom for the recipe card.

Variations Ideas:

  • Cookie Layer – We used a refrigerated cookie dough mix but feel free to making cookie dough from scratch.
  • Oreos – Feel free to use different types of Oreos. The double stuffed Oreos, golden Oreos, regular Oreos and mint Oreos are all great option. If you make these for the holidays they even have seasonal Oreos.
  • Chopped Nuts – You can even add in chopped nuts to the brownie mix. We recommend chopped pecans or walnuts.
  • Sprinkles – We even have topped the brownie with fun sprinkles when we are making for a special occasion.

Step by Step Instructions:

  • Step 1 – Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.  Spray a 9X19 baking pan with non-stick cooking spray and line the pan with parchment paper.

Step 3 – Layer the Oreo Cookies on top of the cookie dough into a single layer (break some of the Oreos if you need to).

Combining the brownie mix in a bowl

Step 4 – In a large bowl, stir together the brownie mix, eggs, vegetable oil and water.

Pouring the brownie mix in the baking dish

Step 5 – Pour the brownie batter on top of the Oreos and spread it out into a single layer.  Bake for 35-45 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center of the brownies comes out clean.

Recipe Tips:

  • Cool Brownies – Before slicing the brownies, make sure to allow them to cool. This helps to have clean lines when slicing.
  • Cookie Dough – If using refrigerated cookie dough, you may need to set it out for about 20 minutes so that it is easy to press into baking dish.
  • Layer of Oreo Cookies – When placing the Oreo cookies down on the cookie dough layer, you may need to break some. We recommend making sure you have an even layer before pouring the brownie mix on top.
  • Serving – These brownies are delicious served just the way they are. But you can also serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Top with chocolate syrup or melted peanut butter.

How To Tell When Brownies are Done:

The best way to tell if the brownies are cooked is by using a toothpick. If the toothpick comes out clean then the brownies are done. The top will also be set and not look wet any longer.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Does it matter how you layer it in the pan?

We recommend putting the cookie dough layer on the bottom. But feel free to make it how you prefer. Some recipes show the brownie layer on the bottom and the cookie dough on top. Both are great options and are delicious.

What Pan Size is Best?

We made this cookie dough Oreo brownies in a 9×9 baking dish. But if you double the recipe, I would recommend layering in a 9×13 pan.

How to Store Leftovers:

Store the leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4-5 days.

Can I Freeze?

Yes, this recipe can be placed in the freezer. We recommend wrapping the brownies in plastic wrap and then aluminum foil. Place in a zip loc freezer bag and freeze up to a month. When you are ready to serve, allow the brownies to thaw at room temperature.
