What is Skillet Green Bean Casserole?

Skillet Green Bean Casserole from scratch takes your classic recipe and cooks everything in the skillet over medium heat. The onions and minced garlic is cooked then the remaining ingredients are added. These ingredients are mixed together and topped with fried onions.

We like to place in the oven to broil for for a few minutes to crisp up the fried onions. The results is the best recipe and it took less than 20 minutes and your classic casserole is done.

Recipe Tips

  • Cast Iron Skillet – I love making this recipe in a cast iron skillet so that the pan can go from the stovetop to the oven.  If you do not have a cast iron skillet, this can be made in a large skillet and just skip the broiling of the top of the casserole.
  • No need to Cover – After the green bean casserole is done cooking, you do not need to cover.
  • Serve Immediately – We recommend serving this green bean casserole as soon as it is done.

This was delicious and exactly what I was looking for. I didnโ€™t have enough fried onions but it was enough to sprinkle on top. I did however use 3 cans of green beans and the sauce to green beans was perfect. Everyone thought it was Thanksgiving! I did not use the broiler but only because I didnโ€™t want to turn on the oven.
