Variations Ideas

  • Hot Sausage – Try using hot sausage for a spicier dip.
  • Velveeta – If you want a cheesy flavor, add Velveeta with the cream cheese. Shredded cheddar cheese is always a delicious addition.
  • Hot Sauce – If you like it really spicy, add hot sauce.
  • Tomatoes – Add a can of diced tomatoes with the Rotel tomatoes or use fire roasted tomatoes for another great flavor idea.
  • Green Chilies – Try adding an extra can of green chiles for extra heat.
  • Ground Beef – Instead of browned sausage, mix in ground beef. This would be a great option if you have leftover meat.
  • Low Carb – Serve with only veggies if you are trying to eat low carb.

Step by Step Instructions

  • Step 1 – Brown the sausage in a large skillet or cast iron skillet. Drain any excess grease.
  • Step 2 – Then on low heat, mix in the diced cream cheese and the can of diced tomatoes with green chiles (do not drain).

Recipe Tips

  • Brown Ground Sausage – Brown sausage over medium heat in a large skillet. This is a great option if you want to prepare ahead of time. Make sure to drain grease from sausage before combining with other ingredients.
  • Cream Cheese – To easily melt the cream cheese, dice up in small pieces. This helps with the creamy texture.
  • Combining Ingredients – As you are melting the ingredients in the skillet continue stirring Rotel sausage dip.

Um… wow! This looks delicious! I can’t believe it only uses 3 ingredients! I love rotel dip, but Velveeta is realllly expensive where I live, so I love that this one uses cream cheese. I have to give this a try!
