How to Make Pumpkin Waffles

  • Step 1 – Preheat a waffle iron on medium-high heat. You may need to spray with cooking spray to prevent the waffles from sticking.
A clear glass mixing bowl on a light surface contains white flour and a mound of brown cinnamon, perfect for making pumpkin waffles. A whisk is partially submerged in the ingredients. A beige and white striped cloth is draped to the left of the bowl. The bottom right has the text "Eating On A Dime.com".

Step 2 – Whisk together dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl: flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and pumpkin pie spice. Set aside.

A glass mixing bowl containing unmixed ingredients, including pumpkin puree, eggs, and other wet ingredients, sits ready for preparation of delicious pumpkin waffles. A wooden spoon rests inside the bowl, while a beige striped cloth is partially visible on the left side of the image.

Step 3 – Then gradually stir together all wet ingredients in a separate bowl: melted butter, milk, eggs, vanilla and pure pumpkin. Mix with a stand mixer or by hand.

Step 4 – Once wet ingredients are thoroughly mixed, slowly add in dry ingredients, stirring until incorporated. Mix until just combined and be careful not to over mix the batter.  The batter will be lumpy.

  • Step 7 – Carefully remove the waffle from the waffle maker to a separate plate.
  • Step 8 – Repeat this process until all of the batter is used.
  • Step 9 – Serve warm topped with butter and syrup. Enjoy!

Expert Tips

  • Waffle Batter – The batter amount needed varies based on your waffle maker.  We like using a measuring cup to scoop the batter to pour onto the waffle maker.
  • Serving Size – This recipe will make approximately 10 standard sized waffles or 5 large waffles.
  • Cooking Waffles – It will depend on your waffle maker. Some waffle makers have a light that tells you when your waffle is ready. If you prefer a crispier waffler, you may need to leave it longer.
  • Waffle Make – If you are in the need for a new waffle make, check out Best Rotating Waffle Maker for an easy way to make these waffles.

Serving Suggestions

These pumpkin flavor waffles are delicious served with your favorite breakfast side dish recipes. Make Air Fryer Bacon, sausage, and this Fruit Salad Recipe for a complete breakfast idea.

We even like to setup a pancake topping bar with small bowls of chopped pecans, peanut butter, maple syrup and butter. My kids even like dollop of whipped cream and powdered sugar for extra hint of sweetness.
