Variations Ideas:

  • Chocolate Chips – You can easily make this chocolate toffee with different types of chocolate chips. Feel free to use milk chocolate, semi-sweet chocolate chips or dark chocolate chips.
  • Saltine Crackers – Instead of using pretzels, feel free to line the baking pan with saltine crackers.
  • Drizzle Melted Chocolate – Feel free to drizzle melted white chocolate or caramel for added flavor.
  • Toffee Bits – Toffee bits is another delicious topping for this treat.

Step by Step Instructions:

Step 1 – Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and line a jelly roll pan with aluminum foil or parchment paper. Spray with a non-stick cooking spray.

Step 2 – Spread the pretzels out onto the baking sheet in a single layer.

Step 3 – In a small saucepan, add butter and brown sugar once butter is completely melted and stir to combine over medium heat. Bring to a boil and continue boiling for 2-3 minutes until the mixture has thickened.

Step 4 – Immediately remove from heat and pour bubbly mixture over the pretzels making sure to cover all the pretzels.  Then bake until the edges of brown sugar mixture gets bubbly.

Step 5 – Remove the pan from the oven and immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips on top of the pretzels.

Step 6 – Allow the pretzels to sit for 5 minutes to melt the chocolate. Then use a spatula to spread the melted chocolate over the pretzel layer. Top with the chopped walnuts and sea salt and place in fridge to harden and cool completely.

Recipe Tips:

  • Prepare Baking Sheet – Make sure to line baking sheet with parchment paper or wax paper for easy cleanup.
  • Boil Mixture – Once the mixture is combined then allow the mixture to boil until it has thicken.
  • Topping Pretzels – After pouring the brown sugar mixture over the pretzel, spread until evenly covered.
  • Place in Fridge – Make sure to give time for the chocolate to harden by placing in the fridge.

How to Store Leftovers:

Store the leftover toffee in a ziplock bag in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. We do not recommend leaving at room temperature.

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 Fahrenheit.
  • Line a jelly roll pan with foil or parchment paper. Spray with a non-stick cooking spray.
  • Spread the pretzels out onto the baking sheet in a single layer.
  • In a saucepan, melt the butter over low-medium heat. Add brown sugar once butter is completely melted and stir to combine. Bring to a boil and continue boiling for 2-3 minutes until the mixture has thickened.
  • Immediately remove from heat and pour bubbly mixture over the pretzels making sure to cover all the pretzels.
  • Bake for 5-8 minutes, or just until the edges of brown sugar mixture gets bubbly.
  • Remove the pan from the oven and immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips on top of the pretzels.
  • Allow the pretzels to sit for 5 minutes to melt the chocolate. Then use a spatula to spread the melted chocolate over the pretzel layer.
  • Top with the chopped walnuts and sea salt.
  • Place the pan in the refrigerator to allow the toffee to harden (1-2 hours).
  • Then remove the toffee from the pan and break it apart into pieces with your hands. Enjoy!
