I’m cheating on this recipe because I am using a boxed brownie mix, but you can easily use my homemade brownie recipe.  Either will work great. This Easy Dessert Recipe is one of my favorites to make for Christmas.

Variations Ideas:

  • White Chocolate Layer – Feel free to use white chocolate chips or white chocolate frosting instead of melting chips.
  • Extract – If you prefer, you can omit the peppermint extract and add in vanilla extract or mint extract.
  • Chocolate Topping – For even more chocolate flavor you can drizzle chocolate ganache or Ghirardelli for delicious flavor.

Step by Step Instructions:

Combine brownie mix ingredients with peppermint extract

Step 1 – Prepare brownie mix according to box directions, but add ¼ teaspoon peppermint extract in a large mixing bowl.

Step 2 – Bake brownie batter according to package and allow brownies to cool.

Step 3 – Melt candy chips by microwaving for 60 seconds then stirring and repeating until melted and smooth.

Step 4 – If you used white chips, add ¼ teaspoon peppermint extract to melted chips and stir to mix.

Step 5 – Quickly spread melted candy evenly over top of brownies and sprinkle with crushed mints.

Step 6 – Cut the brownies before the chocolate sets. Then serve and enjoy.

Recipe Tips:

  • Prepared Pan – Prepare the baking dish by spraying with cooking spray or lining with parchment paper. This makes it easy to remove and slice.
  • Melting Chocolate – Use a microwave-safe bowl to melt the melting chips for best results. Melt in 30 second intervals stirring after each time.

How to Cut Brownies:

For best results, we recommend removing brownies from the baking pan with the parchment paper. Then slice the brownies before the white chocolate has cooled. This allows you to have clean slices.

Instructions
