- Ground Maple Pork Sausage
- White Bread
- Cheddar Cheese (shredded)
- Large Eggs
- Whole Milk
- Dry Mustard
- Black Pepper
- Salt
How to Make Paula Deen Breakfast Casserole
- Step 1 – Spray the baking dish with a nonstick cooking spray.
- Step 2 – In a large skillet cook the sausage over medium heat stirring frequently until browned and crumbly. Drain off the excess grease.
- Step 3 – Cut the crust off the bread and cut the bread pieces in half. In a single layer in prepared baking dish cutting pieces. Top the bread with the browned sausage and the shredded cheese.
- Step 4 – In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, mustard, pepper and salt. Pour this mixture over the cheese in the casserole pan. Cover the dish and refrigerate for approximately 8 hours (overnight works great).
- Step 5 – Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Sit the casserole dish out at room temperature while the oven preheats.
- Step 6 – Uncover the casserole and bake for 40 minutes until the top of the casserole is set and golden brown. Let the casserole stand for 10 minutes before serving and enjoy.
