Frequently Asked Questions

Is there Cream in Panera Bread’s Tomato Soup?

Yes, to make the tomato soup rich and creamy, they do add real cream to their tomato soup and so do we. If you prefer the soup with less sugar, try using Greek Plain Yogurt.

Why is my Tomato Soup Runny?

If your soup comes out with a thinner texture than you prefer, you can make a cornstarch slurry to add thickness to the soup. Combine cornstarch and water together and pour into the soup. Allow it to cook for about 20 minutes and it will thicken.

How to Store Leftover Tomato Soup

Refrigerate the leftovers in an airtight container for up to 5 days.  When you are ready to reheat, we recommend reheating on the stove in a sauce pan. This makes sure there is no hot spot.
You can also reheat in the microwave in a microwave safe bowl. Reheat in 30 second intervals to make sure that it doesn’t overheat.

Tastes just like Panera Bread! Just a tip, probably don’t put it in a food processor fresh off the stove, I think I broke mine.

Hi! I am very excited to make this recipe. If I double or triple the recipe, will it still be easy to make in the dutch pot once I go to blend with the immersion blender?

Excellent. I used San Marzo whole tomatoes. Used half the cream and it was perfect.
