How to Make Jolly Rancher Lollipops:
- Step 1 – Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Step 2 – Preheat the oven to 250 degrees F.
- Step 3 – Begin unwrapping the jolly rancher candies one at a time. Place them on the prepared baking sheet. You will want to set them next to each other, either in twos or threes. Use the assorted flavors to make your favorite flavor of sucker.
- Step 4 – Make sure to keep the groupings separated (like in the picture) as the jolly ranchers will spread as they melt.
- Step 5 – Bake for 5-8 minutes. Watch carefully. When they begin to melt and combine they are ready to remove from the oven.
- Step 6 – Remove from the oven and immediately place a sucker stick in the center of each set of melted jolly ranchers. Roll the sucker stick over to coat completely with the melted candy.
- Step 7 – Allow to cool for 10 minutes.
- Step 8 – Enjoy immediately, or use a sucker wrapper to keep them longer.
How to Melt Jolly Rancher
You can easily melt jolly ranchers in the microwave. Just place them in a microwave safe dish and heat them in 60 second intervals until fully melted.
However, to make the suckers, I think it’s best to allow the jolly ranches to melt on a baking sheet so it’s easy to add the sucker stick. Plus they will melt together beautifully on a flat surface to make these adorable suckers.
Tips for this Recipe
- Line Baking Sheet – Use parchment paper for this recipe. Do not skip this step or you will not be able to get the suckers off the baking sheet. Also, do not use wax paper as it will melt to the suckers.
- Adding Sucker Sticks – Work quickly when adding the sucker sticks. The jolly ranchers do re-harden quickly so work fast when adding in the sticks to the melted candy.
- Lining Jolly Ranchers – I recommend lining up 2-3 jolly ranchers to make the perfect size suckers. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can try 5-6 to make large suckers.
How to Store
The best thing about this recipe is that if the suckers are stored correctly they can last for up to 4-5 months.
You can store the suckers in sucker wrappers or a sealed zip lock bag. Keep them in a cool, dry place to keep them fresh.
My kids love making a large batch of these and then we can enjoy them for months.
