This is one of our favorite meals and I love how quick and easy the instant pot makes these sandwiches. For a fraction of the price of getting take out, I can serve these delicious French dip sandwiches and give my family a great meal.

We love to make these for game day, parties, family dinner and really anything. They are so amazing and take hardly any effort at all. The beef is so tender, the cheese just adds to it and that broth is amazing! You are going to love these!

When you think about the price of just one sandwich at a restaurant, you know quickly it adds up with a large family. This recipe is so simple that you can make it quicker at home than getting take out.

The tender beef will melt in your mouth. We love to top with provolone cheese and it is just SO good. The au jus is so tasty for dipping and the sliced onions make it all even better with amazing flavor.

Ingredients

Ingredients - onion soup mix, slice onions, beef broth, minced garlic, chuck roast, slice provolone cheese and hoagies
  • Beef Roast – We like using chuck roast but you can use any meat that you use in stews.

  • Onion Soup Mix – Learn How to Make Homemade Onion Soup Mix
  • Minced Garlic – If using fresh garlic, learn How to Mince Garlic Cloves
  • Beef Broth – You can also use beef stock
  • Hoagie Rolls – Any hoagie rolls work in this recipe
  • Slices of Provolone Cheese – You can use slices or top with shredded mozzarella cheese or Swiss cheese.

How to Make Instant Pot French Dip Sandwiches

Step 1 – Place everything (except the rolls) in the Instant pot. Cover and set the valve to sealing.

Step 2 – Set the pressure for 60 minutes. Do a quick release and then remove the beef and shred.

Step 3 – Top the shredded beef on hoagies and season with salt and black pepper.

Step 4 – Serve on toasted hoagie rolls. Top with provolone cheese. You can melt the cheese under a broiler.

Cooking time will vary depending on the size of roast that you are cooking. But our roast was finished cooking tender in about 60 minutes.

How to Store Leftover French Dip Sandwiches

Store the leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator. The leftovers will last about 4-5 days and we do recommend storing the meat and hoagies separate to prevent the bread from getting soggy.

Can You Freeze French Dip?

Store the shredded meat and juices in a freezer safe container. The leftovers will last about 4 months. When ready to serve, thaw in the fridge overnight to enjoy again.

Instructions

Recipe Notes

You can take ¼ cup cornstarch mixed in with ¼ cup water. Stir that into the broth. Turn to sauté and stir until thicken so you get a nice thickened sauce.
