  • Step 2 – Add stew meat and onions to the instant pot.  Cook until the stew meat is brown (approximately 3-4 minutes).

Expert Tips

  • Instant Pot Recommendations – You will need an electric pressure cooker for this recipe. I am using an 8 quart Instant pot but you can use a 6 quart if you prefer.
  • Gravy Consistency – We made a cornstarch slurry to thicken the gravy but if you like it thinner, you do not have to add this step.
  • Stew MeatIf you are cutting the beef yourself, we recommend cutting in about the same bite-sized pieces. This ensures that it cooks about the same time.

I used pork tips instead of beef, because that’s what was in the freezer, and I seasoned more generously, because I’m a Louisiana girl. Otherwise, I followed the recipe. This was so good! So easy! It will be in regular rotation at our house.
