My kids always request this cake mix cookie recipe for the birthdays. It taste so much better than buying it at the store and it saves me money. They can easily choose their decorations to make it their own. Making desserts recipes at home is fun, easy and memories are made.

Ingredients:

Cake Mix cookie cake ingredients - butter, cake mix, eggs, chocolate chips, powdered sugar, cocoa powder,vanilla extract, milk, sprinkles

For the Cookie Cake: 

  • Butter (melted) 
  • Yellow Cake Mix
  • Eggs 
  • Chocolate Chips

For the Frosting: 

  • Powdered Sugar 
  • Cocoa Powder 
  • Unsalted Butter
  • Vanilla Extract 
  • Milk
  • Multi-Colored Sprinkles

Variations Ideas:

  • Change the Cake Mix – Feel free to change the cake mix to what you prefer. You can try this recipe with lemon cake mix, strawberry cake mix, red velvet, and vanilla cake mix. The options are endless.
  • Chocolate Chips – You can also change the chocolate chips to white chocolate chips, semi-sweet chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, or dark chocolate chips.
  • Frosting – Frost the cake with a cream cheese frosting or a buttercream frosting. Both are great options for this easy dessert recipe.

Step by Step Instructions:

  • Step 1 – Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Spray a 9 inch round cake pan with a non-stick baking spray.

Step 2 – In a large mixing bowl, stir together the butter, cake mix and eggs until just combined. Stir in the chocolate chips.

Step 3 – Press the cookie dough batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the edges are just starting to turn slightly golden brown.

Step 4 – Beat the butter with a hand held mixture until smooth. Then slowly add in the powdered sugar and cocoa powder.

Step 5 – Add in the vanilla extract and slowly add in the milk until creamy.

  • Step 6 – Pipe the frosting with a star tip onto the edges of the cookie cake and top with the sprinkles.  
  • Step 7 – Then the cake is ready to slice, serve and enjoy.

Recipe Tips:

  • Cooking Time – Be careful not to overcook. It’s better to under cook the cookie dough than over bake it as the cake will continue to cook as it cools.
  • Frosting Cake – Let the cake cool completely at room temperature before adding the frosting.
