Ingredients

Ingredients - Chocolate Chips, peanut butter, butter, sugar, evaporated milk, marshmallow creme, peanut butter, vanilla extract, salted peanuts, caramels, heavy whipping cream
  • Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips – You can also use milk chocolate chips or dark chocolate chips
  • Creamy Peanut Butter  – For best results only use regular peanut butter
  • Butter – We used unsalted butter

How to Make Homemade Snickers

  • Step 1 – Line a 9X13 baking pan with parchment paper.  Make sure that the parchment paper hangs over the edges of the pan. 
  • Step 2 – Place 1 cup of chocolate chips and ¼ cup of the creamy peanut butter in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave for 1 minute. Stir and continue to microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring after each interval, until the mixture is melted and smooth.

Step 3 – Spread this mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan and place in the freezer while you make the other layer for the chocolate to set.

Step 4 – Melt the butter in a medium size saucepan over medium high heat. Stir in the sugar and evaporated milk until the sugar has dissolved.

Step 5 – Stir in marshmallow creme, peanut butter and vanilla extract until combined.  Remove from heat.

Step 6 – Stir in the peanuts.

Step 7 – Pour this mixture on top of the chocolate layer in the pan into an even layer and place the pan back into the freezer.

Step 8 – Place the caramel pieces and heavy whipping cream in a microwave safe bowl.  Heat in 45 seconds. Stir and then continue to heat in 30 seconds, until the caramel is melted and smooth.

Step 9 – Pour the melted caramel over the nougat layer.  Use the back of a spoon to spread the caramel out as evenly as possible.

Step 10 – Melt Chocolate and peanut butter in a microwave safe bowl. Then pour over the caramel layer then refrigerate until completely sets.

Expert Tips

  • Melting Chocolate – When melting chocolate, make sure not to over heat the chocolate in the microwave. You want to heat in 30 second intervals and stir to ensure the chocolate does not burn. Use a microwave safe bowl when melting chocolate.
  • Baking Dish – To easily remove the bars from the baking dish, line it with parchment paper.
  • Serving – Remove the snickers from the pan using the parchment paper. Cut into 24 squares with a sharp knife. Let them sit at room temperature for 30-60 minutes to soften some and then they are ready to serve and enjoy.

Yes, you can freeze homemade snickers bars by place in a freezer safe container. I like to cut in small bar sizes and wrap in plastic wrap then in aluminum foil. This way I can take a few out at a time. Just thaw on the counter for a delicious treat.

  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Evaporated Milk
  • 7 ounces Marshmallow Creme

  • 1 1/2 cup Salted Peanuts roughly chopped

Instructions

  • Line a 9X13 baking pan with parchment paper.  Make sure that the parchment paper hangs over the edges of the pan.

For the 1st Chocolate Layer:

  • Place 1 cup of chocolate chips and ¼ cup of the creamy peanut butter in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave for 1 minute. Stir and continue to microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring after each interval, until the mixture is melted and smooth.
  • Spread this mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan and place in the freezer while you make the other layer for the chocolate to set.

For the Nougat Layer:

  • Melt the butter in a medium size saucepan over medium high heat. Stir in the sugar and evaporated milk until the sugar has dissolved.
  • Bring the mixture to a low boil and let it cook for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Stir in marshmallow creme, peanut butter and vanilla extract until combined.  Remove from heat. Stir in the peanuts.
  • Pour this mixture on top of the chocolate layer in the pan into an even layer and place the pan back into the freezer.

For the Caramel Layer:

  • Place the caramel pieces and heavy whipping cream in a microwave safe bowl.  Heat in 45 seconds.
  • Stir and then continue to heat in 30 seconds, stirring after each interval, until the caramel is melted and smooth.
  • Pour the melted caramel over the nougat layer.  Use the back of a spoon to spread the caramel out as evenly as possible.
  • Refrigerate for 30-60 seconds until the caramel is fully set.

For the 2nd Chocolate Layer:

  • Place 1 cup of chocolate chips and ¼ cup of the creamy peanut butter in a microwave safe bowl.
  • Microwave for 1 minute. Stir and continue to microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring after each interval, until the mixture is melted and smooth.
  • Pour over the caramel layer and use a spatula into an even layer. Refrigerate until completely set (30-60 minutes).

For Serving:

  • Remove the snickers from the pan using the parchment paper. Cut into 24 squares with a sharp knife. Let them sit at room temperature for 30-60 minutes to soften some and then they are ready to serve and enjoy!
