Why This Recipe Works

My whole family loved this Pork Chop Recipe. It was the perfect recipe for a quick weeknight dinner that was filling and everyone cleaned their plates.

We love making homemade seasoning blends from scratch because it tastes so much better than the store bought and I already had most of the spices. This recipe was so much easier than making Fried Pork Chops Recipe and easier to cleanup.

Ingredients

A flat lay of ingredients for a homemade recipe. At the center is a glass container with raw pork chops, perfect for a Shake and Bake meal. Surrounding it are small bowls of breadcrumbs, olive oil, and flour. A wooden board holds various spices, including paprika, black pepper, and garlic powder.
  • Boneless Pork Chops – We used ½ to ¾ inch thick pork chops but use what you prefer. You may need to adjust cooking time.
  • All-Purpose Flour – You can also make with Gluten Free Flour
  • Plain Breadcrumbs – Feel free to substitute with Panko Breadcrumbs
  • Garlic Powder – See The Best Garlic Powder Substitute if you are out
  • Onion Powder – If you are out, see Best Onion Powder Substitutes

How to Make Shake and Bake Pork Chops

  • Step 1 – Preheat the oven to 425°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
A glass container holding raw pork chops, a small glass bowl filled with olive oil, and an open plastic zip-lock bag with flour and various spices for a homemade Shake and Bake are laid out on a white countertop.

Step 2 – In a large resealable plastic bag, combine the flour, breadcrumbs, Kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and dried oregano. Shake the bag to mix the ingredients well.

Four raw homemade pork chops are arranged on a white oval plate, coated with oil. The plate is set on a light gray textured surface.

Step 3 – Drizzle the olive oil over the pork chops, coating them evenly.

Step 4 – Place one pork chop at a time into the bag with the flour mixture. Seal the bag and shake it until the pork chop is well coated. Remove the pork chop from the bag and shake off any excess flour mixture.

Four pieces of raw, breaded chicken are placed on a parchment-lined baking sheet. The light breading reminiscent of a homemade Shake and Bake recipe is visible on the chicken pieces, which are evenly spaced out. The baking sheet is set against a plain, light-colored background.

Step 5 – Place the coated pork chop on the prepared baking sheet pan. Repeat the process with the remaining pork chops.

  • Step 6 – Bake the pork chops in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until they reach an internal temperature of 145°F at the thickest part.
  • Step 7 – Remove the pork chops from the oven and let them rest for 3-5 minutes before serving.

Expert Tips

  • Cooking Pork Chops – Boneless pork chops cook faster than bone-in pork chops, so keep an eye on the internal temperature to avoid overcooking.
  • Coating Pork Chops – For the best flavor, we recommend coating the pork chops in the breadcrumb mixture in a zip lock bag. This allows to shake the pork chops easily.
  • Baking Sheet – Coat the baking sheet with parchment paper to help with cleanup and removing the pork chops from the pan.
  • Rest Pork Chops – Before slicing the pork chops, allow them to rest for at least 5 minutes. This helps to lock in the juices for the best juicy pork chops.

I loved making the seasoning. I used it on boneless skinless chicken thighs and they were delicious.
