It is really easy to make seasonings at home. Plus, Italian seasoning is used in so many recipes. I add it to my Crock Pot Italian Meatball Soup, Oven baked chicken breast recipe, Season White Rice, and even my Pepperoni Cheese Ball and SO much more.

What is Italian Seasoning Made of?

You will find several different things in Italian seasoning. This includes: dried parsley, dried oregano, dried basil, dried thyme, dried rosemary, garlic powder and onion powder.

They all come together to give recipes the best flavor. I bet you already have these spices in your cabinet. Make this today and start making more things at home.  Save money and use that for something else.

Trust me, you will get plenty of use with this seasoning blend. I know at first it can seem easier to just buy it. However, it is so simple to make and really requires very little effort.

How to Make Homemade Italian Seasoning

Adding the dried seasoning together in a bowl

  • Step 3 – Finally, transfer everything into an airtight container. You can reuse an old spice container if you have one or save one the next time you use the last of something.

You can also use a mason jar to store the spices. I always have several of these around so this is often what I use.  Feel free to use what you prefer or already have.

Expert Tips

  • Fresh Spices – We recommend when making any type of homemade seasoning blends to use fresh spices. This will give your recipes the best flavor and will allow the blend to last longer.
  • Storing – We think it is best to store the Italian Seasoning Mix in a glass container instead of a plastic container.
  • Combining Ingredients – I like to add all the spices to a bowl so I can completely mix everything together before placing in a jar.
