Can You Eat Sweet Potato Skin?

Yes, you can. If we are making sweet potato fries, I typically leave the skin on. However, I prefer sweet potatoes peeled. Just do what you prefer!

How to Grill Sweet Potatoes

  • Step 1 – Preheat a gas grill over medium high heat (approximately 400 degrees F).  Rub the grill grates with oil to keep the potatoes from sticking to the grates.
  • Step 2 – Place the sliced sweet potatoes in a large mixing bowl.  Drizzle the Olive oil on top and season them with the garlic salt and pepper.  Toss to thoroughly coat the potatoes with the oil and seasonings.

  • Step 3 – Reduce the grill temperature to medium.  Place the sliced seasoned sweet potatoes directly on the grill.  Cook for approximately 10 minutes per side until the potatoes are tender.

  • Step 4 – Remove the grill.  Serve warm and enjoy!

  • Slicing Sweet Potatoes – We recommend slicing the sweet potatoes about the same size so they cook evenly with a sharp knife. You can cut the sweet potatoes in sweet potato wedges or sweet potato slices.

  • Cooking Method – Feel free to grill these sweet potatoes on a charcoal grill or gas grill. You can also place in a grill pan if you think the sweet potatoes will fall through the grill grates.

    Yes, but you do not use the foil in the oven. You would need to use an oven safe dish and bake at approximately 425 degrees for 45-50 minutes. Thank you!
