Can I Use Different Potatoes?

Yes, you certainly can. Other options include red potatoes, Yukon gold potatoes, fingerling potatoes and baby potatoes. They all taste delicious but the texture may vary based on what type of potato you use.

I often will use what I happen to have or can get on sale at the store.  This is how I keep our grocery budget reasonable. I have never met a potato I didn’t like.

You can also omit the onions if you have some that do not care for those or check out The Best Onion Substitutes. It is super easy to make different foil packs.

Topping Ideas

These grilled potatoes are even better topped with Parmesan cheese and green onions. The kids love shredded cheese and bacon bits on top too. The possibilities are endless.

I like to dip the potatoes in ranch or drizzle some on top. Yum! Sour cream is also good on top.

Easy Additions

You can add other vegetables to these foil packs. Bell Peppers, mushrooms, broccoli, cauliflower, and corn would all taste great in potato foil packs.

Storing Leftovers

Store potato foil packets leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator. They will stay fresh for up to 3-4 days.

These are so easy. I usually omit the onions and double the butter. I use Tony Chachereโ€™s or Cavenders Greek seasoning on mine. They are so moist and delicious!!
