Step by Step Instructions
- Step 1 – First, you need to wash the sweet potatoes (you don’t need to dry). Then stab 6-8 times per sweet potato with a fork in various spots throughout the sweet potato.
- Step 2 – Place the sweet potatoes in the crock pot.
- Step 3 – Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours or on high for 3-3.5 hours until a knife can easily be inserted and removed and the sweet potatoes are soft when squeezed gently.

- Cooking Times – Cooking time will vary based on your crock pot and depending on the size of your sweet potatoes.
- Adding Sweet Potatoes to Slow Cooker – We recommend when placing the sweet potatoes in the slow cooker to place in a single layer. You can add sweet potatoes on top of each other, but it may take longer to cook.
- Poke Holes – We like to prepare our sweet potatoes by washing and then poking holes with a fork into the sweet potatoes.
Topping Ideas
Serve topped with the unsalted butter, salt and pepper. My kids like to add cinnamon and brown sugar to their sweet potato. Sometimes I do too.
We have even added a few mini marshmallows on top.
