How to Make Crock Pot Mississippi Pork Roast

Step 1 – Place the sliced onions at the bottom of the crock pot.

Step 2 – Put the pork roast on top of the onions.

Step 3 – Sprinkle the ranch dressing mix and au jus mix over the pork roast.

Step 4 – Place the butter on top of the roast.

Step 5 – Add the peperoncini peppers and pour the pepperoncini juice and chicken broth around the roast.

Step 6 – Sprinkle minced garlic over the top.

  • Step 7 – Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours, until the pork is tender and easily shreds.
  • Step 8 – Once done, shred the pork in the crock pot, mixing it with the juices.
  • Step 9 – Serve hot, with the peppers on the side, if desired.

Expert Tips

  • Cooking Time – We recommend to cook the pork roast on low but you can also cook on HIGH for 5-6 hours if short on time. The meat just won’t be as tender.
  • Sauce Consistency – If you prefer a thicker sauce, mix cornstarch with a little cold water, then stir into the crock pot. Cook on high for an additional 15-20 minutes until thickened.

Ingredients

  • 4-5 pound pork shoulder roast
  • 1 packet ranch dressing mix
  • 1 packet au jus gravy mix
  • 1/4 cup salted butter
  • 6 pepperoncini peppers whole
  • 1/4 cup pepperoncini juice from the jar
  • 1 onion sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth

Instructions

  • Place the sliced onions at the bottom of the crock pot.
  • Put the pork roast on top of the onions.
  • Sprinkle the ranch dressing mix and au jus mix over the pork roast.
  • Place the butter on top of the roast.
  • Add the pepperoncini peppers and pour the pepperoncini juice and chicken broth around the roast.

  • Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours, until the pork is tender and easily shreds.
