- Sauce – Substitute the brown sugar for honey or maple syrup.
Step by Step Instructions
Step 1 – Whisk together the sauce ingredients in a medium size mixing bowl.
Step 2 – Place the chicken breasts in a crock pot and pour the sauce on top. Cover and cook on low for 3-4 hours.

Step 4 – Cover and cook on high for 30-40 minutes until the broccoli and chicken are cooked through (internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit).
Step 5 – Remove the chicken and roughly shred it into bite size pieces. Stir the chicken and broccoli into the sauce in the crock pot.
Step 6 – Serve over rice topped with the sesame seeds and green onions. Enjoy!
Recipe Tips
- Chicken – We try to cook chicken that is about the same size. This helps to cook evenly and about the same time.
- Shredding Chicken – To easily shred the chicken, learn how to shred chicken with a mixer to save time.
- Adding in Broccoli – Add in the broccoli towards the end of cooking time as it doesn’t take as long to cook as the chicken. This will also prevent it from being soggy.
