How to Make Cracker Barrel Sweet Potato Casserole:
- Step 1 – Prepare Sweet Potatoes – Peel and wash your sweet potatoes first before making the sweet potato casserole. Cut them into small pieces.
Step 2 – Place your sweet potatoes in a medium pot with water and cook over medium heat until tender. While the sweet potatoes are cooking, prepare the other ingredients.
Step 2 – Drain the fork tender sweet potatoes and mash them with a hand mixer on low. Add the cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, vanilla extract, white sugar, milk, salt, and eggs. Beat on low speed until well combined with the mashed sweet potatoes.
Step 3 – In a greased casserole dish, pour the mixture and spread out.
Step 4 – Add 3 tablespoons butter and ¼ cup brown sugar to a small pan. Whisk until well combined over medium heat.
- Step 5 – Sprinkle pecan crumble topping and then add brown sugar and butter to the casserole.
- Step 6 –Put it in the oven and bake for about 30 minutes at 350 degrees.

- Sweet Potatoes – We boiled our sweet potatoes on the stovetop, but you can easily bake them in the oven. You can also cook them in the microwave.
- Clean and Wash Sweet Potatoes – Make sure you peel and wash potatoes before using. Cut in about the same size pieces so they cook evenly.
- Mashing Potatoes – We used a hand mixer but you can also use a potato masher.

- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (softened)
For the Topping
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup pecans
- 3 tablespoon butter
Instructions
- Peel and wash your sweet potatoes first before making the sweet potato casserole. Cut them into small pieces.

I’m so sorry for the confusion, I mix that butter into the mashed sweet potatoes with the other ingredients. I have updated the recipe.
Not sure if your aware you have 4 tablespoon of butter as an ingredient needed but you have forgotten to include in in step one of mixing with you sweet potatoes sugar milk ect….

On the list of ingredients for toppings it says 1/4 cup of brown sugar. In the instructions it says 1/3 cup of brown sugar for the topping. I’m not sure what to use, 1/4 or 1/3 cup.
The actual Cracker Barrel recipe doesn’t have eggs or milk in it. It does however have Valencia orange zest, and concentrated orange juice. Don’t get me wrong, your recipe is fine, just thought I would give you a little “Secret” insight.
