Yes that works great – It should last up to 3 months in your freezer.

Whoo-hoo! Just tried this and it’s very, very good as it is! I will try adding cheese next. Question: I see someone froze some in freezer bags. Does that work out well?

  4. Etta Mae Milhoan says:

I started making my own bean dip from left over pinto beans and although it was good with just the jal peppers I never thought to add the spices you added. Now I can’t wait to cook up some pinto beans to fix it your way. THANK YOU for the recipe.

  5. Carrie Barnard says:

The only thing I did exactly like the recipe was to use onion powder, which is a must, and smells good; used paprika and cayenne pepper. I used jalapeรฑos fresh from the garden, boiled until soft. I used Mrs. Dash garlic & herbs in place of garlic salt for my low sodium diet. I put my jalapeรฑos and spices in a small blender, adding one boiled, softened, and peeled tomato, sodium free taco seasoning, and Mrs. Dash southwest smoky seasoning. I added the blended mixture to 2 cans of beans, simmered and mashed. Lastly, I added a little bit of mustard, which is a popular addition to northern midwest chilli. This also goes great in a medium to large serving casserole dish with layers of sour cream, green onion, black olives, guacamole and shredded cheese. If you get tired of chips, you can stuff warmed up tortillas.

This dip recipe has exceeded my expectations. Cheaper than what I pay for a container of it and WAY tastier as far as I am concerned.

The kids are crazy for bean dip and I think this is better than the store bought ones. I did double the recipe and itโ€™s outstanding.

  9. Ronda Walton says:

Working at a store , made lunch costly. This dip with chips was a constant go to. Thank you for sharing your version, made at home and loved homemade version better. Stayed fresher longer. Even made my own retried beans, another new adventure for me. Yummy and easy

  10. Carrie says:

The entire recipe serves 6, so 1 serving would be 1/6 of the entire batch.

  11. Sandy says:

I donโ€™t have a food processor, but an immersion blender gave me great results

  14. Carrie says:

A blender works great too. Thank you!

  15. Susan says:

I don’t have a food processor what can I do?

  16. Larry Carr says:

Cooked my own pinto beans (cheap) and added a teaspoon of lard. Bought my chips at Aldi-their frito look (and taste) alike chips are much cheaper!

  17. Chelle says:

I made both the homemade refried beans and then the fritos bean dip. Yummy! on both counts. I started out with a 2lb bag of pinto beans and cooked them overnight in the crockpot. After all was done and blended smoothly in my ninja, I put the majority of the refried beans in 5-16oz jars+freezer bags and then in the freezer. I then put the fritos bean dip in a 16oz jar and then in the fridge for later. This was so easy, especially since I already had all the ingredients in the house.

  18. Carrie says:

Emme – The leftovers would keep for 3-4 days. Thank you!

  19. Emme says:

How long can you store the leftover for? If there are anywhere!
