Ingredients:

A top-down view of ingredients for Cilantro Lime Shrimp preparation: a bowl of raw shrimp, bowls containing minced garlic, lemon juice, chopped cilantro, and olive oil, along with small dishes of salt, pepper, and spices arranged on a light surface.
  • 1 ½ pounds peeled and deveined Jumbo Shrimp
  • 2 teaspoons Olive Oil
  • 2 teaspoons Minced Garlic
  • 1 Lime (juiced)
  • 3 Tablespoons Chopped Cilantro
  • ½ teaspoon Paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon Cumin
  • ¼ teaspoon Salt
  • ¼ teaspoon Black Pepper

What time of Shrimp is used for this recipe:

I used raw shrimp with the tails-on for this recipe.  You can also use raw shrimp with the tails-off if you prefer.  The ones with the tails on where larger at my store, so that’s why I chose them for this recipe.

You can use precooked shrimp for this recipe, you will only need to cook the shrimp for 1-2 minutes to heat it up since it has already been cooked.

How to make Cilantro Lime Shrimp:

  1. In a large bowl mix together the shrimp, olive oil, minced garlic, lime juice, cilantro, paprika, cumin, salt and pepper,ย  Stir to coat the shrimp in the oil and seasonings.ย
A bowl of Cilantro Lime Shrimp topped with minced garlic and ground spices sits invitingly, the zesty aroma wafting up. A wooden spoon rests in the bowl, ready for serving. Nearby, a striped kitchen towel adds a touch of charm to the light surface.
  1. Preheat a large skillet over medium high heat.
  2. Once the pan is hot, add the shrimp to the skillet in a single layer.ย  Let the shrimp cook for 1-2 minutes.ย ย
A frying pan with 13 cilantro lime shrimp, sprinkled with chopped herbs, placed on a light-colored surface. A striped cloth lies beside the pan.
  1. Flip the shrimp over and cook the other side for 1-2 more minutes until the shrimp is cooked through and pink. You may have to work in batches depending on the size of your pan.
  2. Transfer the shrimp to a plate.
  3. Serve topped with more fresh lime juice and cilantro if desired.  Serve warm and enjoy!
A plate of cilantro lime shrimp sits atop white rice, garnished with fresh cilantro and lime wedges. A gold fork is poised elegantly on a striped cloth, while a bowl of rice waits in the background.

Notes:

Do not marinade the shrimp in the mixture. Once the shrimp is coated, cook them immediately as the lime juice can cause the shrimp to be tough if marinated for longer than 10 minutes.

Refrigerate any leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
