How to Make Chocolate Mayonnaise Cake
- Step 1 – Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and grease a 9×13 baking pan.
Step 2 – Whisk together all the cake ingredients in a large bowl until the ingredients are combined.
Step 3 – Pour into the prepared pan and bake for 28-32 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool completely before topping with the frosting on a wire rack.
Step 4 – Beat the butter and room temperature cream cheese on medium speed with a hand held mixer or stand up mixer until the butter is smooth and creamy (2-3 minutes).
Step 5 – Add in the confectioner’s sugar, cocoa powder, 3 tablespoons of the heavy cream, vanilla extract and salt. Mix on low speed until fully combined (approximately 1 minute). Check the frosting consistency and add more heavy cream if needed.
- Step 6 – Spoon the chocolate frosting on the cooled cake then spread on the layers.

- Baking Pan – Before pouring the cake batter into the baking dish, make sure to spray with cooking spray. This helps to easily serve the cake and makes a cleanup a breeze.
- Baking Time – Cooking time will vary will baking the chocolate cake. We recommend using a toothpick to ensure that the cake is fully baked. Insert the toothpick in the center of the cake and if it comes out clean then the cake is finished baking.
- Combining ingredients – When combining the cake mix ingredients until combined. Make sure to not over mix the batter. Mix the ingredients with an electric mixer or with spatula.

- 2 cups All Purpose Flour
- 1 cup Granulated Sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon Salt
- 2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
For the Frosting:
- 8 ounces Cream Cheese softened
- 5 Tablespoons Unsalted Butter softened
- 3 cups Confectioners Sugar
- 1/2 cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
- 3-4 Tablespoons Heavy Whipping Cream
- 2 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
Instructions
For the Cake:
