Ingredients - flour, banana, cinnamon, brown sugar, melted butter, salt, baking soda, and baking powder

  • Tangy Flavor – If you prefer you can add in ½ cup of Greek Yogurt or Sour Cream. This will give the banana bread a moist texture.
  • Chopped Nuts – If you love nuts, add in chopped walnuts or pecans.

How to Make Brown Sugar Banana Bread

  • Step 1 – Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and spray a 9X5 loaf pan with non-stick cooking spray.

Step 2 – Place the bananas in a large mixing bowl and mash them bananas.

Step 3 – Stir in the melted butter, brown sugar, egg and vanilla extract until well combined. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and cinnamon.

Step 4 – Slowly whisk the flour mixture into the banana mixture until just combined and there are no lumps.

Step 5 – Pour the batter into the loaf pan. 

  • Step 6 – Bake for 50-55 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center of the bread comes out clean. Closely watch the bread and if the top starts getting too brown, lightly tint the bread with aluminum foil.  
  • Step 7 – Let the pan cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes and then carefully remove the bread from the loaf pan and let the bread cool completely on a wire rack. 
  • Step 8 – Then the bread is ready to slice, serve and enjoy!

  • Prepare Loaf Pan – Before pouring the banana bread into the loaf pan, make sure to spray and line with parchment paper. This helps to easily remove the brad from the pan to slice and serve.
  • Combining Ingredients – For the best flavor, do not overmix the banana bread batter. This will keep the bread soft and moist.

Yes, you can make this banana bread with frozen bananas, just make sure that the bananas have thawed before combining with the other ingredients.

We used light brown sugar in this recipe, but you can use dark brown sugar if you prefer. But it will cause the bread to have a rich caramel flavor.

Storing Tips

  • Storing – Store any leftover bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4-5 days.

  • Thaw – Thaw the banana bread on the counter or in the fridge. Once thawed, I like to warm in the microwave for about 10 seconds. This will make it taste just like it came out of the oven.
