1. My Favorite Personal Blender for Smoothies: Ninja Nutri-Blender Pro with Auto-iQ
Smoothies are one of my favorite healthy treats (my Strawberry Watermelon Smoothie is a personal favorite!), and my Ninja Nutri-Blender Pro makes getting single servings ready super easy. It comes with a 24-ounce single-serve cup that you can blend your smoothie in, making for a quick and easy breakfast when you’re on the go. Plus, the cups, lids, and blade assembly are dishwasher-safe on the top rack.

I’m a big fan of a kitchen appliance that can take on more than one task (that’s why I love multicookers!), and this pick is great because it comes with a food processor attachment. It’s a little bulkier than a personal-sized blender, but it can live on your countertop for easy access if you have the space.
I also love this model because it’s relatively light and easy to move around at a little under 8 pounds. Other awesome features include the extra wide 3.5-inch jar that’s dishwasher-safe, along with the multiple modes available, like milkshakes, pulse and smoothies.

This model has a blade assembly that stands up instead of sitting down at the bottom like my other choices for the best blenders under $100, so it easily crushes ice rather than sucking ice down to the bottom. As with the others, I love that all removable components are dishwasher-safe. There’s also a handy safety setting that makes sure the blades won’t spin when the lid isn’t attached.

It has a noise-reducing lid, a powerful motor and a unique blade assembly that’s designed to pull ingredients into a vortex for quick and quiet blending.
Despite having slightly less wattage than other picks on my list (900 watts), it can still easily crunch ice and frozen fruits using the preprogrammed settings.
Beyond its quiet features, the PowerCrush comes with an 18-ounce glass pitcher that can handle hot ingredients. It also has slip-resistant feet to keep it from shimmying across the counter, while all removable parts are dishwasher-safe.

Immersion blenders are a great add-on to your kitchen because they do more than the classic blender. You can use it to blend soups, dips and sauces right in the container your ingredients are already in.
This Braun 3-in-1 model is my pick for the best immersion blender because of its high wattage for a hand blender (more power equals better blending!) and smooth transition between speeds and splash-control technology.
I also love that for an affordable price, you receive the immersion hand, a two-cup food processor and whisk and beaker attachments. I definitely recommend using this hand blender for my Creamy Tomato Basil Soup recipe so you end up with a smooth and creamy texture.

Other Budget Blenders I’ve Researched
Hamilton Beach 4-in-1 Electric Immersion Hand Blender
The Hamilton Beach 4-in-1 Electric Immersion Hand Blender is affordable and even comes with accessories, but it fell a bit short of the best blenders under $100 for a few reasons. Its power (225 watts) is less than half of the others in its category, it’s limited to two speeds, and it’s a little heavy for a handheld blender. I imagine your arms would get tired while blending soups. The Hamilton Beach 4-in-1 Electric Immersion Hand Blender is available on Amazon.
Cuisinart SmartPower Duet Blender/Food Processor
The Cuisinart SmartPower Duet Blender/Food Processor is an entry-level conventional blender with seven speeds. It comes with a blender pitcher and food processor attachment, which is nice, but it only offers 500 watts of crushing power, so it’s not nearly as strong as some of the others I reviewed. The Cuisinart SmartPower Duet Blender/Food Processor is available on Amazon.
Nutribullet Personal Blender
The Nutribullet Personal Blender is a good personal blender for things like shakes, smoothies and food prep. This little blender has 600 watts of blending power and comes with a base, blade assembly, one 24-ounce cup, a to-go lid, a spare gasket and a recipe book. However, reviewers noted that it can struggle with ice and frozen fruit, so for a few dollars more, I suggest opting for the Ninja Nutri-Blender Pro I recommended above. The Nutribullet Personal Blender is available on Amazon.

What to Know About Budget Blenders
What to Consider When Shopping for the Best Blenders Under $100
When shopping for the best blenders under $100, there are a few things to be aware of. First off, there’s a difference between an affordable blender and a “cheap” blender: Affordable blenders are made well, may include some extras and are inexpensive, while cheap blenders are made poorly and priced low.
Chances are, a “cheap” blender will break before you’re ready, whereas a nice, affordable blender will last years with regular use. My tip is to check out the reviews to see what people are saying about the blender. Here are some other factors you should consider:
- Type: There are four types of blenders: conventional, personal, immersion, and premium (more on this below). Before making a purchase, figure out what you want to use your blender primarily for, whether it be veggie-based pasta sauces or post-workout smoothies.
- Power: More watts means more blending power. If you’re looking to turn ice into snow (hello, frozen strawberry lemonade, virgin or spiked!), look for a blender with 1200 watts or more.
- Material: If you’re a soup lover, you should look for a blender with a glass pitcher and a high-quality lid with a good gasket that can withstand heat. Plastic pitchers can warp and crack when blending hot ingredients. On the other hand, plastic pitchers are just fine for blending things like smoothies and room-temp ingredients.
- Size: Larger portions require a bigger blender pitcher unless you’re patient enough to blend in batches.
- Features: Keep an eye out for pre-set blending modes in addition to manual speed selection. Some models even feature smart technology that can sense the ingredients and adjust blending speeds appropriately. If you’re looking for even more versatility, check out a blender that includes a food processor attachment for rough chopping.
- Replacement parts: Sometimes, the pitcher or blade assembly can crack after frequent use, but the motor base is still in great shape. Not all brands sell replacement parts, so it’s worth researching this if you’d prefer to go a more economical route rather than replacing the entire blender.
How Much Does a Blender Cost?
The cost of a blender will depend on the type. Here’s a quick overview of blender categories and their approximate price ranges.
- Conventional: A classic, countertop blender with a plastic or glass pitcher can start at around $60 and run up to $200 to $300 or more depending on quality and features.
- Personal: Personal blenders are designed for smaller portions, like single-serve smoothies. These can range from $50 to $150 depending on if they include accessories or attachments. Some high-end brands can run up into the few hundreds, though.
- Immersion: A basic immersion blender with no extras can be priced in the $30 to $40 range, whereas a high-quality immersion blender with splash technology or accessories can run up into the $100 to $200 range.
- Premium: High-performance blenders are designed to do more than a conventional blender and feature special technologies, high-quality components and accessory bundles to enhance the versatility. These can land at around $500 or more.
Why are Vitamix Blenders So Expensive?
Blenders from the Vitamix brand tend to offer a combination of power, durability, and high-quality design. They also often have nice features like variable speed control, auto-adjustment of the blades based on the ingredients and plenty of accessories. All of these things drive the price up, making a Vitamix an investment.
And while they’re expensive, I’ve had a large Vitamix model for 20 years, so I feel like I’ve gotten my money’s worth out of it. These blenders are kitchen workhorses that are built to last, and their warranty is longer than others in this category, which is a nice perk!
Are Ninja Blenders Dishwasher-Safe?
Yes, all components of a Ninja blender, aside from the motor base that plugs into the wall, are dishwasher-safe on the top rack. This includes the pitcher or cups, lids, and blade assembly.
The gaskets on the lid and blade assembly are dishwasher-safe, too. However, those could fall off during the wash cycle, so just be aware or proactively remove them and stick them in the silverware basket to keep them from falling to the bottom of your dishwasher.
What is an Immersion Blender Used For?
Immersion blenders are great for blending, pureeing and emulsifying ingredients right in the pot, bowl or jar they’ve been prepared in. This means you don’t have to transfer ingredients from a pot to pitcher and back again, and you’re not limited to the capacity of a blender pitcher, so you don’t have to blend in batches.
You can use an immersion blender to make fresh mayonnaise, blended soups, pesto, creamy dips and more. Here are a few of my favorite recipes where an immersion blender can come in handy:
- Slow Cooker Pumpkin Soup
- Cottage Cheese Queso
- Instant Pot Apple Butter
- Starbucks Chai Tea Latte (Yes, coffee fans, you can use your immersion blender as a frother!)
