You are going to love these Valentine’s Day Rolo Pretzels. They are a fun twist to the traditional rolo pretzels where you use pretzels, Rolos, and M&M’s. However, we swapped out the M&M’s for a fun Valentine’s day twist – candied hearts.
Being a mom of 8 kids, I am an expert on making all the fun and festive treats for Valentine’s Day. These Rolo Pretzel Bites are always made because everyone can help and the results is a treat everyone loves.
I used the traditional candied heart, but the sweet hearts that you find around Valentine’s day would also be very cute. I just love this fun twist, and our entire family loved it too.

Variations Ideas
- Any Holiday Treat – Make these for Christmas by using red and green M&M candies. They are even great for St Patrick’s Day by using green M&M’s, or blue and red for Fourth of July. We have even made them for Easter with pastel M&M’s.
- Pretzels – I love the square pretzels, but regular ones will work too.
- Change the Candy – Instead of using Rolos candies, you can use a Hershey Kisses or Hershey Hugs. Any caramel candies would would great too.
- Sprinkles – Top the melted chocolate with sprinkle instead candy hearts for a delicious variation.
Step by Step Instructions
Step 1 – Preheat over to 200 degrees. On a cookie sheet, lay out the pretzels in a single layer. Remove all the rolo candy wrappers and place one rolo on top of each pretzel.
Step 2 – Bake in a preheated oven for 3-5 minutes until the rolos glisten but still keep their shape. Remove from oven and immediately lightly press a candy heart on each rolo pretzel.
- Step 3 – Allow to cool completely so they harden. I like to place them in the fridge until completely cooled.
Recipe Tips
- Baking Sheet – Line the baking sheet with parchment paper to make cleanup a breeze and serving the Rolo Pretzel Turtles.
- Oven Temp – Preheat the oven at a low temp as you only want to melt the chocolate for just a few minutes. Watch closely so that the Rolos do not completely melt.
- Cool Completely – Once topping the chocolate with the candies, allow the candy to cool completely before storing. We think they taste best when they have been placed in the fridge.
How to Store Leftovers
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge or freezer. These Rolo Pretzel Treats will last about a week. They never last that long in my house.
