How to Cut an Orange:

There are many different ways to cut an orange. We will show how to cut into wedges to serve as a snack. Cut the orange into slices to display on a fruit platter. Or orange segments for a tasty treat.

I love serving oranges and blood oranges as a healthy snack as it loaded with Vitamin C and antioxidants. Make sure you have a sharp knife and a cutting board handy to start peeling and cutting your orange.

Ingredients:

  • Oranges

How to Cut an Orange into Wedges:

  • Wash – Thoroughly wash your oranges.
  • Slice – Cut off the top and bottom of the orange.
  • Cut in Half – Stand the orange on the cutting board. Then cut the orange in half and then cut each orange half into quarters with a sharp paring knife.
  • Cut the white pith off – Then lay the wedges on the side and cut off the white edge off of the center of the orange slices that is from the center of the orange.
  • Serve and Enjoy – Then the orange wedges are ready to enjoy as a snack or to serve in your favorite drinks.

Cut into Orange Slices:

  • Wash – Thoroughly wash your oranges.
  • Slice – Cut off the top and bottom of the orange with a chef knife.
  • Place Orange on cutting board – Then place the orange on one side so that the orange is flat on the cutting board.
  • Remove peel from orange –Use the knife and start at the top of the orange and work your way around the orange cutting just below the pith of the orange peel so that all you have left is the orange.
  • Make sure all white parts are removed – Once all the peel is removed, clean off any excess white parts on the outside of the orange.
  • Slice Orange – Then lay the orange on its side and cut the orange into slices into the thickness that you prefer. This is called supreme.
  • Serve and Enjoy – Then the orange is ready to enjoy as a snack or to serve on a fruit platter.

How to Cut an Orange into Segments:

  • Wash – Thoroughly wash your oranges.
  • Orange Peeler – While hold the top and bottom of the orange, use an orange peeler to score along the skin of the oranges.
  • Slice into the orange – I generally pull the home cook peeler around the orange 3-4 times.
  • Remove peel from orange – Then use your fingers to pull the peel away from the orange the pith and peel. You can use an orange peeler or a knife to remove the skin from the orange.
  • Pull orange apart – Then use your fingers to gently pull the orange apart and divide it into the segments. Clean off any excess pith still on the orange segments.
  • Serve and Enjoy – Then then orange is ready to enjoy!

Tips for Buying the Best Oranges:

  • Pick oranges that have a firm texture. They should feel heavy for their size.
  • Skin color will not be indication of the freshness or sweetness of the orange. Even if the orange has a green tone it still can be tasty as a bright orange.
  • Pick oranges that do not have soft or bruised spots.

How to Peel an Orange:

  • Pick a good orange – The ease of peeling an orange will depend on the ripeness of your orange.
  • Roll the orange – I recommend rolling the orange with your hand on a counter. We believe that this looseness the skin from the orange.
  • Begin Peeling – You can use a orange peeler, knife or your thumb to puncture the orange. Then begin removing the peel from the orange.
  • Serve – We love to serve on a fruit tray, on a salad or as a snack.

Your recipes all look amazing. Please can you tell me where I can get an orange ? peeler? Years ago Tupperware used to give them as a hostess gift. I lost mine and have never been able to find another one. Thank you very much.
