I just made this last night. I tripled the recipe to make 6 steaks. Probably only needed to double it, but I used all the seasoning and let them sit for an hour. I then cooked the steaks in cast iron pans on the stove, finishing them in a 350 degree oven. The steaks turned out very tender. I like mine rare to medium rare. I was shocked by how tender the steaks became from this. We started with a decent marbled steak, but having cooked similar steaks in a similar fashion I found these to be more tender and melt in the mouth than other rubs I have used. This is also the first time I have allowed the rub to stay on the meat for such a long time before putting on the cast iron.

My only change for the next run with this season blend is to omit the turmeric, and reduce the salt a bit. Adding salt, garlic powder, and garlic salt is a bit heavy on the salt. I think garlic and onion powder plus the salt would be fine. Also the Turmeric added a “Curry” flavor I was not as pleased to have in the steak. I like Curry, but not in this application.

I will definitely use this rub again, just with the above noted changes.
