What is Disneyland Churro?
These deep churro’s are a family favorite. It is made with dough and then rolled into a cinnamon-sugar mixture. You can make them in different sizes, rather they are long and thick or short and thin.
The piping bag helps make the groves similar to the Disney Churros. My kids love this part.
Homemade Disneyland Churros:
We love making copycat recipes. These Disneyland Churros is not exception. In fact, we love making copycat Disney recipes so much that we even made a Dole Whip recipe.
These homemade Disney Churros may look like a lot of steps and ingredients, but it is really a simple dessert to make.
You combine the dry ingredients, then the wet ingredients and fry the churros. You will be amazed at how simple they are to make.
Ingredients:
- Water
- Butter
- Ground Cinnamon
- Salt
- Flour
- Eggs
- Vegetable Oil
- Sugar
How to make Disney Churros:
- Fill a large pot with the vegetable oil and heat until the oil reaches 350 degrees F.
- While the oil is heating, prepare the dough for the churros.
- In a quart saucepan over medium high heat, add the water, butter, ¼ tsp of the cinnamon and salt. Stir to combine and bring pot to a rolling boil. Then reduce the heat to low.
- Slowly add flour and stir vigorously until mix forms a ball.
- Then remove the sauce pan from the heat and cool for 5 minutes. Then add the eggs into the mixture one at a time and stir until they are all combined.
- Attach a large star tip to a piping bag and spoon dough into piping bag fitted with large star tip. Pipe 1-2 inch strips of dough over saucepan cut with knife and place them in the hot oil.
- Heat oil over medium skillet.
- Repeat the process until you have multiple churros frying the oil but be careful to not over crowd the pan so that the churros can still fry.
- Drop into hot oil in a medium skillet for 2-3 minuets until they are golden brown.
- Repeat until churro bites fill saucepan with room to fry
- Then remove the churros from the oil with a slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to soak up the excess oil.
- Then in a small shallow dish, combine the sugar and the remaining cinnamon.
- Roll the churro bites until coated in the cinnamon sugar mixture while they are still warm.
- Place on serving plate and serve warm and enjoy!
Tips & Tricks:
- Adding in the Eggs – Mix in one egg at a time. Once the dough appears to be creamy, then you can add in the next egg.
- Use a Piping Bag – To get the edges on the churro’s, use a piping bag.
- Drain Churros bites on paper towels – Toss in churro bites on paper towel. This is the best way to remove all grease from frying them.
- Cinnamon-Sugar Mixture – Roll churros in cinnamon-sugar mixture while they are still warm.
- Serve Warm – These Disney Churros are best served warm.
How to Store and Reheat:
These Disney Churro’s are best served warm, but you can store the leftovers. Make sure you store them in an airtight container once they have cooled completely. They will keep at room temperature for up to 2 days.
To reheat the churros, you can place them on a baking sheet and bake them at 400 degree’s for about 10 minutes.
Can you freeze Disney Churros?
Yes, you can. Simply place them on a baking sheet until frozen solid. Then place them in a freezer safe container or a Ziplock freezer bag. They will last about 1 month in the freezer.
