Everyone loves pizza but takeout gets expensive. Something we have been making a lot lately is this Pita Pizza Recipe. It is so easy, frugal and really delicious. You might also like our flatbread pizza recipe or Tortilla Pizza Recipe.

Everyone gets to make their own pizza and it is fun too. My kids love to make these and everyone can choose their favorite toppings.

I love veggie pizza, my husband loves buffalo chicken and the kids like cheese and pepperoni. Pita bread pizza makes it super easy for everyone to get the pizza they love most.

We also save money by making this homemade pizza sauce. You can use store bought but this is so easy and tastes amazing.

Ingredients for the best pita pizza

  • 6 Pita Breads
  • ¾ cup Pizza Sauce (We like this homemade pizza sauce.)
  • 3 cups Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
  • 36 Pieces of Pepperonis

How to make pizza with pita bread

First, preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.  Place the pita breads on baking sheets.

Spoon 2 Tbsp of the Pizza Sauce on each pita.

Then place ½ cup of the shredded mozzarella cheese on each pita.

The top with 6 pieces of pepperonis on each pita.

Bake uncovered for 10-12 minutes until the pita is browned slightly and the cheese is melted.

Cool on the baking sheet for 4-5 minutes, slice and enjoy! We like this pizza cutter.

You can make any type of pizza. Feel free to use the toppings you like the most.

Buffalo chicken pita pizza is another delicious option.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Cooked Chicken
  • ½ cup Buffalo Sauce
  • 1 Tbsp Ranch Dressing Seasoning Mix
  • 6 Pita Pocket bread
  • 4 oz. Cream Cheese
  • 6 Tbsp Ranch Dressing
  • 1.5 cups Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
  • ½ cup Buffalo Sauce (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. In a small bowl, thoroughly combine the chicken, buffalo sauce and ranch dressing seasoning.
  3. Softened the cream cheese slightly in the microwave.
  4. Spread the cream cheese on each piece of pita bread and place them on a baking sheet.
  5. Place the chicken on top of the cream cheese mixture and top with the shredded mozzarella cheese.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the cheese is melted and the pita bread if browned slightly.
  7. Drizzle with the buffalo sauce and ranch dressing when serving.
  8. Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked chicken
  • 1 cup Barbecue Sauce
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • ½ tsp Black Pepper
  • 2 tsp Paprika
  • 1 tsp Cayenne (Optional)
  • 6 Pita Pocket bread
  • 1.5 cups Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
  • ½ Red Onion, Sliced

Sauce Ingredients

  • ½ cup Barbecue Sauce
  • ½ cup Mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • ½ tsp Cayenne (Optional)

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. Stir together the chicken, 1 cup barbecue sauce, salt, pepper, paprika and cayenne together in a mixing bowl.
  3. Combine the sauce ingredients together in a small bowl.
  4. Spread the sauce mixture on each piece of pita bread and place them on a baking sheet.
  5. Place the chicken on top of the sauce mixture and top with the shredded mozzarella cheese and red onions.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the cheese is melted and the pita bread if browned slightly.
  7. Enjoy!

We love to make this pita pizza recipe for lunch and dinner because it is so easy. It is also fun to make for parties and every child can make their own pizza.

Everyone enjoys putting on the sauce and cheese. You can put out lots of different toppings so everyone can choose what they like.

Top with fresh ingredients, bake and enjoy! Add a little fresh basil and red pepper flakes. Yum!

You can use wheat pitas or anything you prefer to make pita bread pizzas. It really is a fun meal and tasty too. Plus, we love how inexpensive it is as well.
