How Do You Steam Corn on the Cob in the Instant Pot

Step 1 – Clean corn and remove silks.

Step 2 – Pour water into 6-quart Instant Pot.

Step 3 – Place trivet into the pot. Next, add corn to pot.

Step 4 – Close lid and set valve to High Pressure for 2 minutes. When finished cooking, change to quick release the pressure from vent knob. Open lid carefully and remove corn. Then serve and enjoy!

  • Cook Time – Cooking time will vary depending on your instant pot and the size of your corn.
  • Prepare Corn – Prepare the fresh corn by removing the bright green husk and wash thoroughly. You can also buy the corn already husked at the grocery stores or farmer’s markets.

Yes, you can still cook corn on the cob in the instant pot without a trivet or steamer basket. You can stack them after pouring the water in or place the ends of the corn of the cob at the bottom of the instant pot.

Can you Overcook Corn on the Cob?

Yes, you can! Corn on the cob will become very tough and hard if overcooked. It does not take long to cook corn so just be mindful of it and set a timer.

Storing and Freezing Tips

  • Storing – Store the leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days in the refrigerator. We love to use the leftovers and make Corn Salad buy taking the corn kernels off the ears of corn.
  • Freezing – We like to freeze the corn after removing the kernels and place in a freezer-safe bag. The corn will stay fresh for up to 3 months.
  • Reheat – Reheat the corn in the microwave for about 30 seconds or until heated through.

  • 1 cup cold water
  • Serving:
  • Butter
  • Salt

Instructions

  • Clean corn and remove silks
  • Pour water into Instant Pot
  • Place trivet into pot
  • Add corn to pot
  • Close lid and set to High Pressure for 2 minutes
  • When done cooking, immediately release the pressure.
  • Open lid carefully and remove corn
  • Serve immediately with your favorite toppings
