  • Cream Soup – We have even used cream of mushroom soup as an easy substitute for cream of celery.
  • Chicken – Use rotisserie chicken if you do not have any chicken made.
  • Change Meat – Use Leftover turkey and egg noodles also make a great combination in this dish.
  • Vegetables – You can also add green peas or green bell pepper to the chicken mixture and that is yummy.
  • Cheese – Feel free to change the cheese and use cheddar cheese, velveeta cheeses, and mozzarella cheese.
  • Seasoning – This easy chicken spaghetti recipe seasoning can be changed to what you prefer. For a hint of spice add in a ¼ teaspoon of cayenne pepper. Garlic powder and onion powder can also be used as a substitute for the fresh.

How do you Make Chicken Spaghetti Casserole

  • Step 1 – Preheat the oven to 375°F.

Step 2 – In a large bowl, combine the shredded chicken, drained diced tomatoes, cream of celery soup, cream of chicken soup, chopped onion, minced garlic, dried parsley, dried basil, sour cream, and 1 cup of shredded Monterey Jack cheese. Mix well.

Step 3 – Add the cooked spaghetti to the chicken mixture and toss to coat evenly. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Step 4 – Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish and spread it out evenly.

Step 5 – Sprinkle the remaining Monterey Jack Cheese and parmesan cheese evenly over the top of the casserole.

  • Step 6 – Bake uncovered for 30-35 minutes or until the casserole is bubbly and the topping is golden brown.
  • Step 7 – Remove from the oven and let it cool for 10 minutes before serving.

  • Pasta – Cook spaghetti noodles before mixing with the other ingredients. Cook the pasta according to the package or al dente. Make sure you do not overcook as you do not want the pasta to be mushy.

Yes, this casserole can be placed in the freezer. I often will make 2 of these and put one in the freezer. It does not take any more work and you can have an extra for later. It is so nice having another night of dinner taken care of and in the freezer.
This recipe is perfect in a 9×13 casserole dish. The ones with the lid are really handy as well. I use the disposable pans if I am taking this meal somewhere or for the freezer.  That  also helps with clean up on those busy nights.

Do You Cook Chicken Before Baking Casserole?

    This recipe is so delicious! I doubled the recipe so I could take dinner into a neighbor who was having surgery. I followed the recipe as written. except I used leftover rotisserie chicken and added a bag of peas. So delicious! I will definitely be making this again!
