  • Lean Ground Beef – You can also make this soup with Ground Turkey or a mixture of both beef and turkey

  • Minced Garlic Cloves – You can also substitute with garlic powder if you are out
  • Diced Tomatoes with Green Chiles – A can of Rotel is a great option
  • Taco Spices – Feel free to use Easy Homemade Seasoning Recipe or a packet of taco seasoning instead of using chili powder, ground cumin, paprika and oregano. We have even added in a teaspoon of cayenne pepper for a hint of spice. You can add in Homemade Ranch Seasoning Mix
  • Black Beans and Kidney Beans – Feel free to substitute with the beans of your choice. Pinto beans is a great substitution.
  • Beef Broth – If you are out of beef broth you can easily use 3 cups water

How To Make Taco Soup 

  • Step 1 – Heat a large pot or large Dutch oven over medium high heat.

Step 2 – Add the ground beef and onions. Brown the beef, breaking up the beef as it brown until cooked through and no longer pink. Seasoning with salt and black pepper. Drain off any excess grease.

Step 3 – Add in the minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until heated through.

  • Prepare Vegetables – You can easily dice the vegetables that you are adding ahead of time. If you prefer, you can Freeze Onions so you already have them available to easily add to any recipe. Use this vegetable chopper to quickly dice the onions.
  • Combining Ingredients – We like to cook the soup in a Dutch Oven as you can easily cook the meat without having to dirty a bunch of dishes. All the soup ingredients to simmer until everything is heated through.
