Ooey Gooey Butter Cake is made with two layers. The first layer is a cake mix combined with butter and an egg. Then a creamy cheese layer mixture is topped on the cake mix batter and then baked.

The cake comes out rich in flavor with a gooey center.

Ingredients - Yellow Cake Mix, egg, butter, cream cheese, vanilla extract, powdered sugar

  • Butter – Use unsalted butted that has been melted

How to Make Paula Deen Ooey Gooey Butter Cake 

  • Step 1 – Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and spray a 9X13 baking pan with a non-stick cooking spray.

Step 2 – In a large bowl, combine cake mix ingredients with a electric mixer or stand mixer until combined.

Step 3 – Pour the cake part into the baking dish into an even layer.

Step 4 – In a separate bowl, beat together the package cream cheese until smooth and creamy with a hand held or stand up mixer. Add in the eggs, melted butter and pure vanilla extract.  Mix until combined.

Step 5 – Then slowly add in the powdered sugar (1 cup at a time) until all combined and mixed well.

Step 6 – Spread the cream cheese filling batter over the cake batter in the baking dish.

Step 7 – Bake for 40-50 minutes until the outside starts to brown and the center is still slightly gooey. Cooking time will vary.  Remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool completely at room temperature.  Cut into squares, serve and enjoy!
