How to Make Eggnog Waffles:
Step 1 – In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Make sure the flour mixture is thoroughly combined.
Step 2 – In a separate small bowl, whisk together the eggnog, eggs, vegetable oil and vanilla extract with an electric mixer. Mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined.
Step 3 – Pour the batter into the waffle iron and bake based on the manufacturer’s instructions until the waffles are golden brown. Continue this process until all the waffles are prepared.
Step 4 – Place the heavy whipping cream in a bowl. Add all of the whipped cream ingredients to a stand up mixer bowl fitting with the whisk attachment. Mix until stiff peaks are formed. Be careful not to over mix. Top the waffles and serve.
Tips for The Best Waffles:
- Fill the waffle maker. You do not want to overfill the waffle maker. However, it needs to be full, so the waffles are big and fluffy.
- Preheat the waffle maker. Don’t forget to preheat the waffle maker so it cooks evenly. If you are in need of a new waffler maker, check out the best rotating waffler makers.
- Spray with cooking spray. Once the waffle maker is preheated, spray the waffle maker with cooking spray. You do not want the waffles to stick.
- Don’t over mix the batter. Mix the ingredients until combined. Do not overmix or the waffles will be dense instead of soft and fluffy.
- Don’t overcook the waffles. Most waffle makers have a light that indicates when it is time to remove the waffles. If yours does not, remove the waffles once you see steam coming out.
- Keep the waffle maker closed until finished cooking. Don’t open the waffle maker until the waffles are completely finished cooking. This will ensure the waffles are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
Storage
Refrigerator
Refrigerate the leftover waffles in an airtight container or bag for up to 1 week.
Freezer
Allow the waffles to cool completely. Wrap in plastic wrap and store inside a freezer bag or container.
When ready to eat, toast them in the oven or toaster oven for 2 to 3 minutes or until no longer frozen. You do not have to thaw the waffles before toasting.
Freeze waffles up to 3 months. This method is perfect to save time on busy mornings or even Christmas morning.
