These adorable pancakes are soft and fluffy while being perfectly decorated as Santa Claus. From the spray whipped cream for the beard to the chocolate chips for eyes, it is a blast to create and the cutest Christmas recipe.

We made Turkey Pancakes for thanksgiving, and it was so much fun. This new Christmas recipe is sure to be a hit with the kids. They may even like these Grinch Pancakes, Snowman Pancakes, and Christmas Pancakes.

It is the perfect breakfast for Christmas morning, holiday parties, brunch and more. We love it with oven cooked bacon and Christmas Morning Punch for an easy meal.

To Make Santa

  • Strawberries (sliced in half) 
  • Chocolate Chips 
  • Whipped Cream

Variations

  • Bananas for the beard. Substitute banana slices for the beard instead of whipped cream.
  • Raspberries for the hat and nose. If you do not want to use a strawberry slice, raspberries make another great choice.
  • Pancake recipe. Feel free to use your favorite pancake recipe to make Santa. Chocolate Chip pancakes make another tasty option.
  • Coconut. Swap the whipped cream for coconut to form the beard.

How to make Santa Pancakes

Step 1. Combine the flour and brown sugar.

Step 2. Get out a separate bowl and whisk together the egg, milk and vanilla.

Step 3. Combine the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients.

Step 4. Then stir in the melted butter. Combine everything together.

Step 5. Heat the pan using medium-high heat. Pour the batter into the griddle. You can pour smaller pancakes if desired.

Step 6. Cook the pancakes until bubbles form in the middle. It usually takes about 3 minutes and then flip and cook the other side.

Step 7. Continue cooking the pancakes in batches. Then place the strawberries to make the Santa hats. Slice one strawberry to use as the noses on the Santas.

Step 8. Add the chocolate chips to make the faces.

Tips and Tricks

  • Wait to assemble until ready to eat. Don’t make the Santa faces in advance as it will make the pancakes soggy.
  • You can make the pancakes ahead of time. Reheat and then assemble to make Santas.

How to store?

Refrigerate the leftover pancakes in an airtight container for up to 5-7 days. Don’t add the toppings when storing in the refrigerator or it will become soggy.

Reheat the pancakes in the microwave when ready to serve. Then top with the fruit and whipped cream to make Santa.  

Can I make these in advance?

Feel free to make the pancakes a day in advance. However, wait to add the toppings.

  • 16 ounces Strawberries sliced in half
  • ¼ cup Chocolate Chips
  • Whipped Cream

Instructions

For the Pancakes:

  • Whisk together the flour, brown sugar, baking powder and salt.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the egg, milk and vanilla.
  • Whisk the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, then stir in the melted butter.
  • Heat a nonstick griddle or skillet over medium heat.
  • Pour ½ cup batter onto the griddle for each pancake to make the faces of the Santas.
  • Cook until bubbles form in the middle, about 3 minutes. Flip and cook until golden brown, about 2 minutes. Remove from the griddle.
  • Continue this process to make approximately 6 large pancakes.

To Serve:

  • Place a pancake on each serving plate.  Use the strawberries to make the hats on the Santas and slice one strawberry to use at the noses on the Santas.
  • Make the faces with the chocolate chips.  Then use the whipped cream to make the hair and beards on the Santas.
  • Then the pancakes are ready to serve and enjoy with syrup!
