Grilled Pork Tenderloin

Pork tenderloin is really easy to make on the grill. It turns out so tender and infused with the best flavor. We love to grill and the food turns out wonderful.

This recipe is no exception and makes the perfect grilling recipe. The seasoning blend is really simple but so good.

Everyone fights over the leftovers because it is so yummy. I think you will love this new recipe!

Ingredients for Grilled pork tenderloin.

Ingredients: 

  • Pork Tenderloin 
  • Apple Cider Vinegar 
  • Minced Garlic 
  • Italian Seasoning 
  • Olive Oil 
  • Salt and Black Pepper 
  • Dijon Mustard 
  • Honey 

How to grill pork tenderloin:

  • Step 1. Remove any moisture from the pork. Pat the pork tenderloins dry with a paper towel. 
  • Step 2. Combine the marinade ingredients. In a small bowl, whisk together all the ingredients except for the pork tenderloin. 
  • Step 3. Allow the meat to marinade. Place the pork in a ziplock bag, pour the marinade on top.  Seal the bag and let the pork marinade for at least 30 minutes.

  • Step 4. Prepare the grill. Preheat the grill over medium high heat (approximately 400 degrees F) and rub the grill grates with oil to keep the pork from sticking to the grates. 
  • Step 5. Grill the tenderloin. Use tongs to remove the pork from the bag.  Shake off the excess marinade.  Place on the grill and cook for 15 minutes to 20 minutes, turning every 3-4 minutes, until the pork reaches an internal temperature of 140 degrees F.

  • Step 6. Remove from the grill.  Tent with foil and let rest for 10 minutes.  The pork should reach an internal temperature of 145 degrees F while the pork is resting. 
  • Step 7. Serve and enjoy. Then the pork is ready to slice, serve and enjoy! 

What to serve with grilled pork tenderloin:

These are all delicious side dishes with grilled pork tenderloin. We love that so many different dishes goes with pork. I like to choose recipes that can also be cooked on the grill but feel free to use your favorite cooking method.

How long to grill pork tenderloin:

The pork needs to be cooked until the internal temperature reaches 145 degrees. It will vary based on the size of your tenderloin. Ours took about 20 minutes.

We like to use an instant read thermometer for meat to make sure that the pork is cooked to a safe temperature before eating. 

Pork does not take long to cook and can become dry very quickly. It is important that you do not overcook the tenderloin and use a meat thermometer.

How to store leftovers:

Refrigerate the leftover pork in an airtight container for up to 5 days. I like to place it inside individual containers to make it easy to meal plan. This will make it so convenient to grab for a quick meal on the way out the door.

You can add any leftover sides to these containers or make a pork sandwich.

Another option is to free the pork tenderloin for longer storage. Just make sure to use a freezer container.

How to reheat:

Reheat the meat in the microwave until it is warm. If frozen, allow to thaw overnight in the fridge. Then reheat in the oven or microwave.

Be careful that you do not cook it too long when reheating or it will dry it out.

Seasoning variations:

  • Garlic. We used minced garlic but garlic powder would be great as well.
  • Maple Syrup. Substitute maple syrup for honey in the marinade.
  • Brown Sugar. You can add brown sugar to taste for a sweeter pork recipe. I suggest 1 to 2 tablespoons depending on how sweet you like it.

Tips for Grilling pork tenderloin:

  • Cut of pork. Instead of pork loin, try using pork chops.
  • Remove moisture from the tenderloin. Pat try the tenderloin with a paper towel before placing in the marinade.
  • Prepare the grill. The gas grill or charcoal grill should be pre-heated. The grates also need to be coated in oil so the meat does not stick. If you are needing a new grill, check out the Best Grills under $500.
  • Allow to rest. The meat should rest for 5 to 10 minutes before slicing. This will keep all those flavor packed juices inside. The meat will also continue to cook as it rests.
  • Do not overcook the meat. It can dry out fast and it’s too late once it is dry. Watch the pork closely and use an instant read thermometer to make sure you do not overcook it.
  • Marinade at least 30 minutes. The tenderloin needs to marinate at least 30 minutes but longer is even better.

Slow cooker option:

If you are unable to grill, try cooking the pork tenderloin in the crock pot. Prepare as normal and place in the slow cooker.

It will need to cook on high for 2 to 2 ½ hours or low for 4 hours. Allow it to rest for 10 minutes after cooking.

You will still need to use an instant read meat thermometer to ensure it is fully cooked to 145 degrees internal temperature.
