What is the Secret to Good Fried Rice?

The secret to good fried rice is using cooked, day old rice. This allows the ingredients to mix well together. Place in the fridge to help it dry out after the freshly cooked rice is made.

Which keeps it from getting clumpy when combining the ingredients. Cold rice makes the best stir fry recipe.

Ingredients needed - pork tenderloin, sesame oil, vegetable oil, cooked rice, soy sauce, salt and pepper, frozen veggies, egg, green onions

Ingredients:

  • Pork Tenderloin (diced into bite size pieces)
  • Sesame Oil
  • Vegetable Oil
  • Cooked Rice, cooled
  • Soy Sauce
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Frozen Peas and Diced Carrots blend
  • Eggs, lightly beaten
  • Sliced Green Onions

How to Make Pork Fried Rice:

  • Step 1 – In a large skillet, sautรฉ the diced pork in the sesame oil and tablespoon of oil on medium heat until the pork is cooked through for approximately 4-6 minutes. Once the pork is cooked, transfer the pork to a separate plate and set aside.

Tips for Pork Fried Rice:

  • Rice – I find that itโ€™s best to use leftover rice for fried rice. Make sure that the rice is cold as itโ€™s easier to sautรฉ in the skillet when itโ€™s cold.
  • Butter – Feel free to add in butter to the fried rice mixture instead of the vegetable oil. The Hibachi Restaurant always use a large slab of butter when they are cooking fried rice.
  • Vegetables – The vegetables can be frozen or fresh when making this dish. If I use frozen, I do not thaw them. I just toss it in the skillet and heat. We love to sneak in other veggies to this rice recipe.
  • Medium High Heat – We recommend cooking the pork fried rice on medium high heat to thoroughly cook the pork and veggies. We continually are stirring the ingredients together while cooking in the skillet.
  • Soy Sauce – When adding in soy sauce to the rice mixture I like to add enough soy sauce to make sure the mixture is covered. I also serve it as a side for those like a little extra.
  • Meat – Feel free to change the meat to make this dish. You can use chicken or shrimp for a delicious addition to this recipe.

What a great dish. First time I ever cooked fried rice. I added chopped onions, sliced mushrooms and diced water chestnuts. Also used brown rice. My husband and I both loved it. Will definitely make again.
