Why This Recipe Works

This 20 minute dinner idea is one recipe that is perfect for a weeknight meal. My kids love this Creamy Chicken Pasta recipe and the adults do too. We love that there are fresh tomatoes in it.

This recipe takes that easy dish you have probably made on the back of the cream of chicken can and kicks it up a notch with the Italian seasoning and the fresh tomatoes.

It is amazing how something so simple as adding in tomatoes really makes this recipe taste more like a “fancy” dish!

Seasoning Variations

  • Spicy – Sometimes we add red pepper flakes for a little heat.
  • Fresh Herbs – You can easily add in fresh parsley or fresh basil for delicious addition.
  • Sauce – For a delicious twist use a Easy Alfredo Sauce Recipe instead of the heavy cream sauce.

How to Make Creamy Chicken Pasta

  • Step 1 – Cut the chicken breasts into approximately 1 inch strips. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Step 2 – Add the chicken, season with the salt and pepper and cook until brown on each side (approximately 4-6 minutes).
  • Step 3 – While the chicken is cooking, cook the pasta in a separate pan based on the package instructions.
  • Step 4 – Once the chicken is done cooking in the skillet, add in the butter, tomatoes, garlic, paprika and Italian seasoning. Sauté on medium for 4-7 minutes until the tomatoes are soft.
  • Step 5 – Then add in the spinach and cook for a few minutes until it’s wilted.  Stir in the heavy whipping cream and parmesan. Cook until the cheese is melted and cream is thoroughly combined.
  • Step 6 – Stir in the cooked pasta right before serving and enjoy! It is that simple to prepare!

Expert Tips

  • Skillet Recommendation – We use a cast iron skillet and it’s perfect for this recipe. I have the Lodge cast iron skillet but you can see all the different brands here. Cast iron is amazing! You can make so many different recipes and they are great for skillet recipes.
  • Pasta – Cook pasta in a large pot of boiling water until pasta is al dente or according to the pasta package.
  • Chicken – Use a meat thermometer to check the chickens internal temperature. The internal temperature should reach 165 degrees when the chicken is fully cooked.

Serving Suggestions

We like to serve this with a side salad. I think a light salad balances the cream sauce perfectly. The sauce is so delicious so you will want something to dip into that sauce. We love Garlic Bread Cheese Sticks Recipe and it is perfect for getting every last bit of that amazing sauce.

No worries if you don’t have time to make the bread. Another idea is to just pick up a loaf at the bakery or grocery store and it will be just as amazing.

We had this for dinner tonight with one modification– we used diced tomatoes instead of fresh so we had everything on hand already. My family loved it… Even my toddler. Thanks for the recipes.
