Step by Step Instructions

  • Step 1 – Prepare your Cake mix as directed. I used a white cake mix, because that is what I had on hand, but you could use any flavor. I am thinking chocolate and even lemon would be wonderful.
  • Step 2 – Heat up your waffle maker and spray with non-stick cooking spray.
  • Step 3 – Pour cake batter in waffle iron and close. Be careful not to fill it up too much. It expands quite a bit.
  • Step 4 – Allow it to cook for about 3-4 minutes.

It doesn’t take long, and you can enjoy a delicious cake.

Recipe Tips

  • Ingredients – For best results, make sure your cake mix has not expired. Use fresh ingredients.
  • Combining Ingredients – Combine the cake mix and the additional ingredients in a large bowl. Make sure to mix until just combined.
  • Pouring Batter – When adding the batter to the waffle iron make sure to not overfill. It could make a mess down the side of the waffle maker.

  2. I used just under a 1/3 of a cup and that seemed to work the best for my waffle maker.

  3. These look so amazing!! And are sooo simple!! Byt then, the simplest things are always best!! Thanks for thos idea!!

  4. What great idea you have. I think I will use funfetti cake mix or add in blueberries with a white cake mix. YUm? Thanks for sharing

  5. I used Duncan Hines Spice Cake mix with a 15 oz can of pumpkin!
3 eggs, 1/2 cup milk and no oil, 1/2 cup dark brown sugar. Heat waffle iron while you are mixing…beat eggs, pumpkin, milk and brown sugar. Add box of mix. Don’t overheat. Follow your waffle maker instructions making sure to spray before adding batter. I have a flip maker…took about 4-5 minutes. THEY WERE JUST FABULOUS!!!

  6. Oh my! My grandchildren loved them!! They don’t always agree upon what to have for breakfast! We have tried it twice and they love experimenting with sprinkles, chocolate chips and toppings.
    Thank you for sharing this!

  7. My granddaughter loved these. I got some canned cream cheese frosting and thinned it with milk to use instead of syrup! Yumm!!

  8. 5 stars
I love this as well as my kiddos. They have so much fun with the idea of cake for breakfast. We use the funfetti mix quite often. We always add a dash of flavored creamer to the mix as well. It’s so yummy and sweet enough they don’t ask for syrup, just a dollop of whipped cream. Thank you for sharing.
